Introduction
A lot of confusion regarding LORD and Lord revolves around virtually all English Bible translations using the same
English word for different the three Hebrew words YHWH, Adonay, and Adown from the OT.
All of these three Hebrew words are different, and have different definitions, as will be shown in this section. There
may be good reasons that the translators translated all three words to the same English word LORD or Lord. However
it would have made things a lot more understandable and created so much less confusion if they had been translated
into different English words, such as Jehovah for LORD, as they sometimes are in the King James and other versions.
In bible translations the OT Hebrew word YHWH, Gods name, is sometimes written YHWH, sometimes Jehovah and
usually all capitals LORD. It is only ever written in reference to the God of the bible.
In the OT the different Hebrew words adonay and adown were each sometimes used to refer to YHWH/LORD
however adonay and adown also referred to people. In the NT kurios sometimes refers to YHWH/LORD from
the OT, however kurios usually referred to people.
There is never a point that LORD/YHWH God calls Jesus LORD/YHWH or God. At a point during the NT God made
Jesus Lord (Greek Kurios), however the bible does not say God made Jesus LORD/YHWH. YHWH God does not call
Jesus Lord/Kurios either before creation, after Bethlehem, or after Jesus resurrection. This seems to show it happened
after creation and before Bethlehem however this still doesnt pinpoint exactly the time it happened.
If the Hebrew language had not been translated to English and the entire world spoke Hebrew these questions would
not need answering. The idea that Jesus is God based on scriptures using the word Lord, has been created due to
translation to the English language. It is the translators that have created the confusion and the problems.
This analysis will show that Jesus is certainly Lord, but that he is not LORD or God.
This analysis will also address and help resolve the proof texts that supposedly show Jesus is God, they are
Psalm 110:1-7, Malachi 4:4-6
Isaiah 40:3-5, Malachi 3:1-3, quoted in Mark 1:1-7 and three other gospels

Wikipedia: YHWH known as the Tetragrammaton is usually printed as YHWH or Jehovah and is the
personal name of the one true God of the Bible and is not used in reference to any other being. Observant
Jews write down but do not pronounce the Tetragrammaton because it is considered too sacred, to be used
for common activities. Instead, common Jewish use has been to substitute the name Adonai ("My Lord")
where the Tetragrammaton appears.
This Jewish belief and tradition is to not pronounce YHWH, whereas no such command exists in the Bible or is given
for Christians.
Translators often render YHWH as a word meaning "Lord, e.g., Greek , Latin Dominus, and
following that, English "the Lord, Polish Pan, Welsh Arglwydd, etc. However, all of these are inaccurate
translations of the Tetragrammaton. Because the name was no longer pronounced and its own
vowels were not
written, its own pronunciation was forgotten. When Christians, unaware of the Jewish
tradition, started to read the
Hebrew Bible, they read as written with YHWH's consonants with
Adonai's vowels, and thus said or
transcribed Iehovah. When the Masoretes added vowel pointings to the text of the Hebrew Bible around the eighth
century CE, they gave the word YHWH the vowels of Adonai,
to remind the reader to say Adonai instead. Later
Biblical scholars mistook this vowel substitution for the
actual spelling of YHWH and interpreted the name of God
as Jehovah.
Again nothing tells Christianity that they cannot speak or write the name YHWH or Jehovah etc.

Because of the difficulties that will be revealed during this study, regarding the use of the word LORD it will
become very apparent the translators would have done everyone a great favor if they had ALL chosen another word
like Jehovah, or Yhwh instead. Unwittingly they have created some major issues.
OT Lord:
Adonai Word count 878.
The word Adonai occurs 315 times by the side of the Tetragrammaton YHWH (310 times preceeding and five times
succeeding it.) Adonai is used in reference to men approximately 215 times.
The word count total is correct, however when looking for the breakdown I am unable to find accurate numbers due to
the problems of YHWH being written immediately next to Adoanai. The translators have often written Lord God
which is not accurate and affects the word count for all related words.
Wikipedia: When the Tetragram became too holy for utterance, "adonai" was substituted for it, so that, as a
rule, the name written YHWH receives the points of Adonai and is read Adonai, except in cases where
Adonai precedes or succeeds it in the text, when it is read Elohim. The vowel-signs e, o, a, given to the
Tetragrammaton in the written text, therefore, indicate this pronunciation, Aedonai, while the form
Jehovah, introduced by a Christian writer about 1520, rests on a misunderstanding.

YHWH, Strongs H3068, is translated LORD or Jehovah and is the name of the one true God, the name God gave to
himself in the Old Testament.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
God/Elohiym (Strong's H430) created the heavens and the earth
Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the
LORD God made the earth and the heavens
When the LORD God, the YHWH Elohiym, made the earth and the heavens; the God of the Bible, Jehovah, made the
heavens and the earth

God tells Moses that his name is LORD/YHWH/Jehovah

LORD is distributed fairly evenly throughout all of the OT including 46 times in Malachi.
LORD is not found in Esther, Ecclesiastes, or Song of Songs.
It is interesting that the word YHWH is in the OT 6,517 times and yet there is a Jewish tradition that says they cannot
pronounce the name YHWH aloud. Do we really believe that the bible is the word of God and yet we cannot read it
aloud? This is a tradition of which I dont know the origins but find it difficult to understand how God would not want
us to say it if it is written so many times. There is no sense to such a tradition, and there is no such written instruction
in the bible.

P1B God is Lord: Elohiym is Adonay/H136

Adonay, Strong's H136, Lord: A title spoken of men and of God, sometimes in place of YHWH out of rerverance.
Genesis 20:3-4 But God (H430) came to Abimelech in a dream by night and said to him, Behold, you are a
dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a mans wife.
Now Abimelech had not gone near her, so he said, Lord (H136 Adonay), will you destroy an innocent nation?
Abimelech calls God/Elohym/H430, by the title Lord/Adonay/H136 as a display of reverence
Psalm 35:23 and rouse yourself for my vindication, for my cause, my God and my Lord
The Psalmist, perhaps David, calls God/Elohiym/ H430, Lord/Adonay/ H136 as a display of reverence
Psalm 38:15 But for you, O LORD, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.

Adown and Adonay are very closely linked, the definitions from Strong's concordance say that Adonay comes from
Adown. I dont understand the precise differences between them both but because Strong's felt the need to list them
separately I have addressed each word separately throughout this study in order to identify their uses.
Adown, Strong's H113, Lord: This word is used in reference to God and men in a similar way that master might be
used

Joshua 3:11 See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord (Adown/H113) of all the earth will go into the Jordan
ahead of you.
The covenant of the Adown/LordH113, or the covenant of God. Joshua refers to God as Adown/Lord/H113
Joshua 3:13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD -the Lord H113 of all the earthset
foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap."
Again the covenant of the Adown/LordH113, or the covenant of God. Joshua refers to God as Adown/Lord/H113
Zechariah 6:5 The angel answered me, "These are the four spirits of heaven, going out from standing in the
presence of the Lord of the whole world.
The angel says "in the presense of the Adown/Lord/H113."

Part 1D God is both LORD and Lord/H136:

God is both LORD and Lord. Elohiym is both YHWH and Adonay/H136.
Judges 16:28 Then Samson called to the LORD and said, O Lord GOD, please remember me and please
strengthen me only this once, O God, that I may be avenged on the Philistines for my two eyes.
Samson called to LORD/YHWH/H3068 by the title Adonay/Lord/H136 and also calls him God
2 Samuel 7:28 And now, O Lord (H136) GOD (H3068), you are God (H430), and your words are true,
Elohiym is both YHWH and Adonay. Many times in the OT when Adonay/H136 is immediately followed by
YHWH/H3068 the translators say Lord GOD (all caps) instead of saying Lord LORD. This is almost certainly because
of the confusion they had created by using the same english word, Lord and LORD, for two different Hebrew words.

Psalm 68:20 Our God (H410) is a God (H410) of salvation, and to GOD (H3068), the Lord (H136), belong
deliverances from death.
21 But God (H136) will strike the heads of his enemies, the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways
God is here refered to as El/H410 rather than Elohiym/H430
The Psalm gives us a mixture of El/H410 and YHWH/H3068 and Adonay/H136

Again, because of the confusion the translators have created by using Lord and LORD for two different Hebrew
words, they have had to juggle with the translation to have it make sense in English. Despite this issue, the Psalm is
calling YHWH Elohiym by the name of Adonay
Psalm 73:28 But for me it is good to be near God (H430); I have made the Lord (H136) GOD (H3068) my
refuge, that I may tell of all your works
Elohiym/God/H430 is called both Adonay/Lord/H136 and YHWH/H3068 by the Psalmist, although again in this verse
H3068 is translated to GOD not LORD because of the close proximity of Adonay/H136.
Summary:

God is called Lord/H136 for the first time by Abraham in Genesis 15:2, then by Moses in Exodus 4:10, Joshua in
Joshua 7:7, Gideon in Judges 6:22, David in 2 Samuel 7:18, and so on. It is often interchangeable with LORD as
thoughout Isaiah where sometimes it is LORD God and others it is Lord GOD (See Psalm 68:20)
Also LORD Lord - Jehovah Adonay Psalm 68:20, Psalm 109:21, Psalm 140:7, 141:8, Habakuk 3:19 only.
Lord LORD is written 290 times with Adonay as Lord and Jehovah as God, Lord God, which should be Lord Jehovah.
Confusing, I know.

P1E God is both LORD and Lord/H113:

God is both LORD and Lord. Elohiym is both YHWH and Adown. In part 1D God is both YHWH and Adonay/H136,
and now in Part 1E God is both YHWH and Adown/H113
Deuteronomy 10:17 For the LORD (H3068) your God (H430) is God (H430) of gods (H430) and Lord
(H113) of lords (H113), the great God (H410), mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no
bribes.

Parts 1A-E have shown that the God of the bible has the name YHWH/Jehovah/LORD which applies only to him.
Additionaly God can also be refered to as Adonay/Lord or Adown/Lord.
One of the main points of Parts 1D-1E is to show that God is both LORD and Lord, however it has also revealed the
problem that the translators have caused by not using a different English word when translating YHWH into English.
It is my view that this needs some divine intervention from God himself to have these English translations admit their
mistakes and modify them.
People Are Lord But Are Not LORD God

Part 2A People are Not LORD God:

Do scriptures say that people are LORD/H3058, the God Almighty the creator of the universe?
There are several passages that say people are like, or are, elohiym/god, however those statements never include the
title YHWH/LORD. No person in the bible is called YHWH/LORD in any way.
Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said to Moses, See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron
shall be your prophet.

Mathew Henry: I have made thee a god to Pharaoh; that is, my representative in this affair, as magistrates
are called gods, because they are Gods vicegerents. He was authorized to speak and act in Gods name and
stead, and, under the divine direction, was endued with a divine power to do that which is above the
ordinary power of nature, and invested with a divine authority to demand obedience from a sovereign prince
and punish disobedience. Moses was a god, but he was only a made god, not essentially one by
nature; he

Vs1 H430 Elohiym has taken his place among the H430 elohiym; gods are either
A/ figurative referral to men who think they are a god
B/ a referral to men who hold a god like position, of power and authority
C/ actual other gods
My current opinion is that B is correct and possibly A
Vs2 God had put people in a position of power and authority, which had made them like gods which they had
misused
Vs3 Instruction to the gods to take care of the people
Vs5 A criticism of the gods
Vs6 Does you are gods mean
A/ Plural, many of you are a god
B/ Singular, you belong to the LORD God/Elohiym

Does this mean that they are all god and also a Son of God?
My opinion is that B seems to make more sense, however because vs1 says in the midst of the gods , I am not
sure. It seems strange that people would be god and a son of the most high
sons of the most high perhaps refers to them as being Gods representatives on earth
Vs7
My opinion is that this is a figurative passage and that the people being refered to are not either God or a god. They are
most likely gods in the same way as Moses was made like God to Pharoah, although like is not in the Hebrew
text!
John 10:34 Is it not written in your law, you are gods?
Vs34 Jesus referring to Psalm 82.
To me Jesus says you are gods, rather than you are Gods because of the context of vs35-36.

the NT where the name God was given to someone other than YHWH or it was implied in some way. This list can be

Only God is actually YHWH God. No person is ever called LORD/YHWH, only the LORD/YHWH is the
LORD/YHWH.

Part 2B People and Angels are Lord/Adonay:

People and angels were refered to as Adonay/H136 in the OT

It is claimed that the Septuagint has Lord Lord, or Kurios Kurios, in the following OT verses in reference to the LORD

Why do you call me Lord Lord
It certainly is true that the Seputagint did say Lord Lord in reference to the LORD God in the quoted verses.
It is certainly true that Jesus would have had access to and read the Septuagint.
It is also true that Jesus referred to himself on four occasions as "Lord, Lord."
Does this mean that Jesus as the "Lord, Lord" in the NT is the same "Lord, Lord" in the OT?
There are several things that God and Christ are, do, or are called. I have a list of a further twenty three and of that list
eighteen of them were also applied to people and five were not. Does that mean that because something does not also
apply to people then Jesus must be God? If this were so then angels or demons or Satan would also be in a strong
position to make such a claim because they are divine, heavenly, a spirit and so forth.
The question also arises is do we believe the Septuagint to be the word of God, or a translation of the word of God
much like an English translation? It is my belief that it is a translation. Because it is a translation then I say it is in
error and has made a mistake in the translation of the words shown.
Even if we say the Septuagint is the word of God the final conclusion still stands. In order for Jesus to be distinct from
all other beings, whether earthly or heavenly, he has to have some specific things in common with God. Therefore to
say that Jesus is God because he has something in common with God that we don't, is not a valid argument to identify
him as God.

Part 4A God is Lord: Theos is Kurios:

It is interesting that Jesus is called Lord but never by God. Jesus is Lord is a name from people to Christ

The Lord/kurios went to heaven and sat down with God/theos
Jesus was taken to Heaven by God, not by himself.
When he got to Heaven he sat with God. Sat next to him.
God was there, and now Jesus is with him, two of them.
How can Jesus be God and be next to God? God is not sat next to God

Does so to the Lord and Gives thanks to God. Two actions and two receivers of the thanks that are given.

justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
We were justified by two things, the name of Lord Jesus Christ and the Spirit of God. Two different beings that justify
us.

Jesus is given the throne of the kingdom by Kurios God, who once gave the same throne to David.
God did not give the throne to himself he gave it to another.
Saying Jesus is God is saying Jesus gave the throne to Jesus, or God gave the throne to God.
Why if Jesus is God does he need the kingdom giving to him? Because Jesus is not God and he didnt have the throne
before this point, Jesus needed to be given the kingdom.
Luke 2:22 When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and
Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
God was still Lord after Jesus had been born Lord.
Acts 4:26 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his
Anointed One.
The Lord and the anointed one are two different beings.
His anointed one, means Jesus belongs to someone.
God is referred to here as Lord/kurios, and Jesus is referred to his Anointed One.

Shown here Pilate, a house owner, Philip, and slave owners are called kurios. Kurios is in the NT approximately 716
times and over 50 passages refer to people as kurios. Nearly all fifty uses of Kurios referring to people is when Jesus
uses the term his parables referring the servant owners with no implication that it means God in any way. Kurios was
used as a sign of honor and respect to those in authority.
Kurios is translated into lord, owner, master, sir. What is very interesting is that the translators usually translate kurios
into master/sir/owner if it applies to people, and into Lord when it applies to God or Jesus. Why do they do this? Why
isnt Pilate or Philip called Lord? There is nothing in the sentence that says they should not be called kurios/Lord. This
is a decision of the translators which is not being fully truthful and not fully in keeping with how it was originally
written.
God Made Jesus Lord For Us

Part 5A Empty
Part 5B God made Jesus Lord Kurios:
God makes or appoints Jesus as Lord/G2962 and Christ.
Acts 2:36 Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord
(Kurios) and Christ."

At some point God made Jesus Lord. Obviously, during the time or point before this happened Jesus was not Lord.
We know that Jesus was called Lord on the day of his birth at Bethlehem, Luke 2:10-1. Jesus was unknown to people
before this point so he was not Lord to the people until his birth. He was never referred to as Lord by God. We dont
know if he was referred to as Lord by the angels before his earthly birth.
If Jesus is God why did he not make himself Lord/Christ? God was never made anything, to say that Jesus was
made something is to say that Jesus is not God.
It is not clear if God made Jesus both Lord and Christ at the same time or at different times, what we do know from
this verse is that there was a point when Jesus was not Lord.
Romans 15:16 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
God is the Father of the Lord Jesus therefore they are not one and the same thing. A point God became the Father of
the Lord and a point before that happened.
Philippians 2:9-11 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every
name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Vs9 Jesus name is above every name, some might argue that it must be above God, this is not what is meant.
Vs 9 God exalted Jesus. How can Jesus be God and need exalting by God?
Vs 9 God gave Jesus the names that he has. Why if Jesus is God didnt he pick his own name?
Vs 9 God didnt exalt God or give God the name of Jesus.
Vs 10 God willed it that everyone shall bow to Jesus. Why if Jesus is God does he need God to do this for him?
Vs 11 Everyone in heaven and earth will confess Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God. All because God wills
it!
What if God didnt will it then where would Jesus be?
Without God, Jesus would not have been made Lord, before the time this happened Jesus was not Lord
God made Jesus Kurios or Lord or Master.

These statements say God made Jesus kurios/lord, or something similar, which is a sign of respect in a similar way that
Jesus called people kurios many times in his parables. These statements do not say God made Jesus God, or that God
made Jesus YHWH or Jehovah.
If someone were to say that Jesus made YHWH/God the Lord, what would we say? An impossibility!
The following is true
Because there was a point before Jesus was Lord,
Because another being made Jesus Lord,
Because the Lord is of God,
Because Jesus is Lord to the glory of God,
Because there is hierarchy,

Jesus cannot be God.

Jesus cannot be God.
Jesus cannot be God.

To take the viewpoint that Jesus is God, then by definition he was already Lord and didnt need giving the name Lord.
That viewpoint would directly contradict these scriptures.

Part 5C What does it mean that Jesus is Lord, or Jesus is Lord of my life?

The statement is Jesus is Kurios/lord ! (it does not say that Jesus is YHWH)
Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be saved.
Jesus is lord, Kurios. If we dont say Jesus is Lord we may not be saved
We will be saved if we make this confession (we understand it to be combined with other criteria)
Jesus is Lord, and God raised him from the dead
Not: God is lord and God raised God from the dead!
Mathew 19:28 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits
on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of
Israel.
Jesus sits on his own glorious throne
Some disciples will sit on thrones in heaven, in judgment of others.
Some of those people who have followed Jesus will be judges with Jesus. If we follow Jesus we will inherit salvation,
following means making him our Kurios/master/lord.
Mark 8:34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after
me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Jesus denied himself. Jesus was denying himself of his own desires which were not of Gods will. If they were of Gods
will, then Jesus was not denying himself.
If we are to come after Jesus or follow Jesus then we must deny ourselves and take up our cross, we are
commanded by Jesus to follow Jesus who in turn follows God. If Jesus is our Lord we must follow and obey all of his
teachings and commands, which are originally Gods teachings and commands.
Summary:
Romans 10:9 Jesus is lord, Kurios. If we dont say Jesus is Lord we may not be saved

(Jesus death on the cross is our death to our fleshly life and worldly desires). When Jesus instructed his disciples to do
anything then he is instructing us to do the same, whatever he taught the people to do he wants us to do the same!
When Jesus is lord/kurios/master of our lives we follow Jesus teachings and examples.
When Jesus is Lord, a position he was given by YHWH, no scripture says that Jesus is YHWH.

Part 5D Many Lords, only one lord for us:

As this study has shown there are many lords including God, Jesus, angels, and numerous people both in the OT and
NT.
1 Corinthians 8:5-6 For even if there are so-called gods (G2316 theos), whether in heaven or on earth as
indeed there are many "gods" (G2316 theos) and many ("lords" G2962 kurios),

yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but
one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
Vs5 There are many so-called gods, thirty bible passages at the last count.

Vs5 In the Greek text the same word for Lord is lord or G2962 Kurios, and God is god or G2316 theos.

Addressing Assumptions and Proof Texts
It is amazing to consider that Parts 6A-6J are nearly all in place to address the problems caused by the English
translators. This will be confirmed as you progress.

Part 6A People in the NT refer to YHWH in the OT as Kurios:

Some say that because the NT apply Lord/kurios to the OT YHWH/LORD then Jesus is YHWH God.
In the OT people referred to YHWH as Adown and Adonay as a sign of respect or other. In the NT people used the
Greek term Kurios to refer to OT passages using the Hebrew term YHWH. As shown, one does not necessarily equal
the other.
Mathew 4:7 Jesus said to him, Again it is written, You shall not put the Lord (Kurios/G2962) your God
(G2316/theos) to the test.
Jesus tells Satan that their God has the title of Lord/Kurios. Satan and Jesus both have God as their Kurios.

Some might say that because a quote in the NT calls OT YHWH by the name of Kurios that Kurios therefore is equal
to, and the same as YHWH. As we have seen in the OT, YHWH is often given the title of Hebrew adonay or adown,
which is also a title given to people. Here the same applies, kurios is a title given to OT YHWH but is also a title give
to people and so remains only a title, not an equivalent. This is the same as calling OT God/elohiym Lord, or NT
God/theos Lord.

Part 6B Call on the Name of The Lord:

Some say that if we call on the name of the Lord, then Jesus is God.
What does it mean to call on the name of the Lord? Is it referring to calling on God or Jesus or both? It is important to
bear in mind that there is a difference between calling, or giving, someone the name Lord and "calling out" to the
Lord. This analysis is regarding calling out to the Lord, perhaps in prayer.
OT Call on the Name of the LORD/YHWH God
Genesis 4:26 To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call
upon the name of the LORD
Call on the name of the LORD/YHWH/Jehovah.
1 Samuel 12:17 Is it not wheat harvest today? I will call upon the LORD, that he may send thunder and rain.

bestowing his riches on all who call on him.

Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
vs14.... And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
vs15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "how beautiful are the feet of those
who preach the good news."
The "Lord" here is God, and the one being sent it Jesus.

Summay:
In the OT people called on the name of the LORD/YHWH God for help.
At a point God made Jesus Lord/Kurios, Savior and Christ among other things.
Now we call on the name of the Lord Jesus for help, intercession, and mediation and salvation from LORD/YHWH's
wrath.
They have very different tasks, if they were both YHWH God there would be no salvation only wrath! We have a new
convenant a new testament and a new set of directions to live by.
Nothing about calling on the name Jesus, Lord/Kurios, makes him LORD/YHWH God.

Part 6C The Day of The Lord:

Some say that because the OT says the day of the LORD referring to Jehovah God, and the NT says the day of the
Lord referring to Jesus, then the LORD God must be the Lord Jesus. Is this true?
OT The Day of the LORD God
Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the
LORD comes.
The fourth time Joel talks about the day of the LORD.
Obadiah 15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you;
your deeds shall return on your own head

goes on. At some point God decided that Jesus was going to be intercessor and mediator and help Him judge on the

Day of Judgment. All these because God appointed him to those roles. At some point God decided that the Day of
Judgment, the day of the LORD God, that day, the day of wrath, the day of calamity, the day of slaughter, the day of
redemption, the day of eternity, and the Day of the Lord Jesus Christ would all refer to the same thing. Nothing about
this makes Lord Jesus Christ into YHWH/LORD God.

Part 6D When the LORD talks to My Lord, is God talking to God?

Some say that when "the LORD said to my Lord, sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your
feet" it is God the Father talking to God the Son. They say this is confirmed in the NT quotations.
Psalm 110:1-7 quoted in Mathew 22:41-45, Mark 12:35-37 and Luke 20:41-45
Psalm 110:1-7 The LORD (H3068) says to my Lord (H113 Adown): "Sit at my right hand until I make your
enemies a footstool for your feet."
The idea that use of H113/adown/Lord means Jesus is God in Psalm 110:1-7 is a mistaken conclusion.

Part 6E Does the OT Predict YHWH coming and having NT Fulfillment?

Some say that because John the Baptist is quoting Isaiah 40:3-5 "prepare the way for the LORD," John is saying Jesus
is LORD/YHWH/God.
Isaiah 40:3-5, Malachi 3:1-3, and Mark 1:1-7
Mark 1:3 Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Also in Mathew 3:3, Luke 3:3-6, John 1:23
Although at first glance the idea that Jesus is LORD/YHWH is supported in Mark 1:1-7 it is not the case, this is a
mistaken conclusion. As shown in this analysis the predictions of Isaiah 40:3-5 and Malachi 3:1-3 combined with
Mark 1:1-7 do not say God is coming, or that Jesus is the LORD or that Jesus is God in any way.

Some say that because Isaiah 40:5 says "the glory of the LORD shall be revealed," and people saw Jesus then Jesus is

Part 6F Does the NT Quote the OT and say Jesus is YHWH?

Some say that because Romans 10:8-18 quotes Isaiah 28:16 and Joel 2:32 where both refer to YHWH, and in Romans
it says Jesus is Lord/Kurios, then Jesus as Lord is also Jesus as YHWH. Is this true?

Part 6G Does the NT Quote the OT and say Jesus is YHWH?

Some say that because Acts 2:21 says "call on the name of the Lord will be saved" and is quoting Joel 2:32 that says
"everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved," then Jesus must be both Lord and LORD/God.

Part 6H Thomas says my Lord and my God

Many people believe that when Thomas said to Jesus my Lord and my God that he was correctly stating that Jesus is
God. Is this true?
John 20:27-29 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put
it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Part 6J Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

Some say that because Jesus is Lord and savior in 2 Peter 2:20 then he is God.
Some say if Jesus is the savior in 2 Peter 3:2 he must be God because God says he is the only savior in the OT. The
same question is asked of 2 Peter 3:18. Are these claims true?
2 Peter 2:20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.
God is LORD, Jesus is Lord, God made Jesus Lord.
God is the savior who sent Jesus to be the savior, see section 37C Who is the savior linked here

The KJV translation based on the Textus Receptus has God and Christ, the Westcott Hort does not have God.

The ESV version makes more sense.

Summary:
Some small translation differences, some of which have God in the last part of the verse and some that dont, create
difficulty in understanding. Also the use of the rare Greek word despotes/ G1203 which of the ten times it appears in
the NT it is translated seven times to master, twice to Lord and once to sovereign. Depending on which translation
you read could give you a different definition of who you understand Jesus to be. When reading the ESV this verse
correctly does not say Jesus is God

call Jesus lord. If Jesus was God, or there is equality between Jesus and the Father, then why does the Father
not call him Lord? Jesus is lord to the people, from the disciples perspective not from God's
perspective.
P4D: Jesus and the kurios/lord God, two separate beings.
P4E: Shown here Pilate, a house owner, Philip, and slave owners are called kurios. Kurios is in the NT
approximately 716 times and over 50 passages refer to people as kurios. Nearly all fifty uses of Kurios
referring to people is when Jesus uses the term his parables referring the servant owners with no implication
that it means God in any way. Kurios was used as a sign of honor and respect to those in authority.
Kurios is translated into lord, owner, master, sir. What is very interesting is that the translators usually
translate kurios into master/sir/owner if it applies to people, and into Lord when it applies to God or Jesus.
Why do they do this? Why isnt Pilate or Philip called Lord? There is nothing in the sentence that says they
should not be called kurios/Lord. This is a decision of the translators which is not being fully truthful and
not fully in keeping with how it was originally written.
God Made Jesus Lord For Us

These statements say God made Jesus kurios/lord, or something similar, which is a sign of respect in a
similar way that Jesus called people kurios many times in his parables. These statements do not say God made
Jesus God, or that God made Jesus YHWH or Jehovah.
If someone were to say that Jesus made YHWH/God the Lord, what would we say? An impossibility!
The following is true
Because there was a point before Jesus was Lord, Jesus cannot be God.
Because another being made Jesus Lord,
Jesus cannot be God.
Because the Lord is of God,
Jesus cannot be God.
Because Jesus is Lord to the glory of God,
Jesus cannot be God.
Because there is hierarchy,
Jesus cannot be God.
To take the viewpoint that Jesus is God, then by definition he was already Lord and didnt need giving the
name Lord. That viewpoint would directly contradict these scriptures.

If Jesus is Lord of our lives we must follow all of Gods commands, Jesus commands, and Jesus actions and
examples! (Jesus death on the cross is our death to our fleshly life and worldly desires). When Jesus instructed
his disciples to do anything then he is instructing us to do the same, whatever he taught the people to do he

When Jesus is lord/kurios/master of our lives we follow Jesus teachings and examples.
When Jesus is Lord, a position he was given by YHWH, no scripture says that Jesus is YHWH.

quote several Old Testament passages problems have arisen due to translation to the English language,
combined with peoples desires to force passages to say things that they dont actually say. As shown in this
analysis, when looked at in detail there is no proof in these writings that Jesus is God.
