Our Launching of SPE Hasanuddin University Student Chapter has
proven to be a great event for established our student chapter, it is
also a networking opportunities for our member. We invite students
and local section to participate in our event and ensure that we have
a good connection both students and professionals. It also sponsored
and supported with oil and gas company such Total E&P Indonesie
and Sonofera Geosains

We held a joint lecture between SPE Hasanuddin University SC and


SEG Hasanuddin University SC by Mr. Awang Satyana from SKK
MIGAS with theme Trans-Kutai-Makassar Straits Western Sulawesi
Geology as integral part of Field Trip Delta Mahakam (FTDM) 2015
which has been planned in may. Its really benefit for us because its
tell us about how to act as a geoscientist and expand our network not
just with oil and gas professional but also with government officer in
this case SKK Migas.

Goals and Progress:

As soon as our student chapter was established, we meet with


current officer, our faculty advisor and our sponsoring section control
to have a discussion for outline goals. The long-term goal we have
had for first time was to held a Launching. Through the action and
support of those who related for this event, we were finally able to
see this goal through. We hope, from this event can create another
great long-term goals in the next few years.

Our short-term goal was to ensure that our meetings and other
activities were able to continue as normal. We were successfull at
this because of the dedication and committment from all of our

Because we are the new student chapter so we still running on our
first program but later we will report it, however we have held several
event like GSD (Geoscience Day) an event to increase knowledge of
the student in term of Petroleum, Social Care, Seminar and Guest

Briefly describe one or two of your most successful community outreach events.

For community outreach, one of the most success is GSD


(Geoscience Day).It is such a kind of short course about any matter
in petroleum in particular about technical issues, like Seismic Study,
Petrophysics and many more. Here the student not only learn about
the basic concept but also load the data to petroleum software and
interpret it based on their evaluation. It planned to be held once in
two week but in fact because it very favored, it was held every week
in our campus, in door and out door.

Our next event is SPE Social Care. Here we visit an orphanage in


our city to donate some food and stuff. We also cooperate with SPE
Balikpapan Section in this event.
