University United Methodist Men Constitution

and By-laws
Article I:

The Order of Business for the University United Methodist Men shall be
conducted in an orderly, professional and business - like manner. Any
questions not covered by the By-Laws shall be decided in accordance with
Robert's Rules of Order.

Article II

Membership
The membership of the University United Methodist Men shall be
open to all Men who are members, associate members and or
Men who regularly attend University United Methodist Church.
Only members who are in good standing through full payment of
the annual dues are eligible to participate in the voting process
during regular and/or special meetings.

Article III

Officers
The elected officers shall be in accordance with the General
Commission of United Methodist Men and their duties shall be
those designed and set forth in the UUM Constitution and Bylaws.
Duties of Officers
A. President: The President shall be the presiding officer and
shall preside at the annual, regular, and special meetings and
the Executive Committee. He shall have general oversight over
the mission, programs, customs and work of the Mens group.
He shall be an ex-officio member of all committees and task
forces, except the Nominating Committee. He shall be familiar
with the
work of the General Commission on United Methodist Men and
that of the
District President and Conference President.
B. Vice President: The Vice President shall assist the President,
accept
assignments made to him, preside in the absence of the
President, and
assume full responsibility for that office.
C. Secretary: The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping the
minutes
and all records shall include all meetings and the Executive
Committeethe annual, regular and special. The Secretary shall

responsible for keeping records suitable for historical filing.
D. Assistant Secretary: The Assistant Secretary shall accept
assignments made to him, preside in the absence of the
Secretary, and
assume full responsibility for that office.
E. Treasurer: The Treasurer shall collect and disburse all funds.
Adequate
records shall be kept and a report shall be made at all meetings
and the
Executive Committee. Requests for disbursements of funds not
approved in the budget shall be made by the President,
Executive Committee and/or the membership.
F. Assistant Treasurer: The Assistant Treasurer shall accept
assignments made to him, preside in the absence of the
Treasurer, and
assume full responsibility for that office.
G. Chaplain: The Chaplain shall provide spiritual guidance and
counseling, lead spiritual devotions at regular and special
meetings, provide status reports on the sick and shut-in
members, and send correspondence (i.e. birthday, get well
cards) to members as needed.
Article IV

Election of Officers
The election of officers shall be in accordance with the UUM Men
Constitution and By-Laws. In order to run for an office, members
have to be in good standing through full payment of the annual
dues prior to the election.
The President shall appoint a Nominating Committee consisting
of at least three members that shall present a slate of candidates
for all elected offices. The Nominating Committee shall present
candidates for each office at the August meeting. To be inclusive
of financial members that may not be present at the August
meeting, the slate of officers shall be communicated either
electronically, in writing, or via telephone to members in good
standing at least five (5) days prior to the meeting date.
Nominations for each office may be made from the floor during
this meeting.

The election of officers shall be conducted bi-annually during the
August meeting.
In order to vote in the election of officers, members have to be in
good standing through full payment of the annual dues.
Members in good standing who are unable to be present at the
time of elections may cast an absentee ballot as outlined in
Roberts Rules of Order prior to the meeting. Proxies will not be
permitted.
In the event an officer resigns his office or has become incapable
of continuing in that office, the President shall nominate a
member in good standing to serve in the vacated office. The
nominee shall be voted on at the next meeting.
Voting Procedures
Voting in an election for officers shall be by secret ballot unless
otherwise
decided. Voting on other matters at all regular and special
meetings
shall be by voice vote, show of hands, or by standing.
Article V

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee will assist the President to develop,
implement
and evaluate programs as well as provide guidance
and recommendations
to the President. The Executive Committee shall meet at the
request of the President or, as often as it deems necessary.

Article VI

Project Committee
The Project Committee shall plan and execute all projects of the
UMM
group.

Article VII

Program Committee
The Program Committee shall plan all programs both on a shortrange and long-range basis.

Article VIII Committee Appointments
The President shall appoint additional committees and task
forces deemed necessary in order to carry out the mission and
purpose of the Mens group.
Article X

Meetings
Regular Meetings of University United Methodist Men shall be
held at a place, date and time to be determined by the President.
The place, date and time shall be communicated either
electronically, in writing, or via telephone to members in good
standing at least five (5) days prior to the meeting date.

Article XI
meeting

The By-Laws may be amended at any annual, regular, or special


of the Mens group by a two-thirds majority vote of all financial
members present provided the notice of such proposed
amendment is given ten (10) days in advance.
