countries," he said that the government
was also suspending its humanitarian
program(CNN, 2014)

Policy Alternative
Immigration Policy for EVD has been
implemented by the Prime Minister of Australia
Tony Abbot.(CNN, 2014)
The change will need to occur at the state level
In an Australian clinical setting, healthcare
workers who have taken recommended
infection control precautions, including the use
of appropriate PPE, while caring for a probable
or confirmed EVD case are not considered to
have had low or high-risk exposures to EVD.

Feasibility
These actions would not be
immediately feasible in the United
States. Primarily for political reason,
it would defiantly take time.

This policy doesnt necessarily meet
with my goals, but I do understand
the severity of the Australian
Government

Redistribution of resources
Social work values and ethics

An alternative can be defined as a
project or a (complex) of policy
measures with which the gap
between the desired situation and
the zero-situation can be (fully or
partly) be closed. In other words, it is
(a combination of) measures which
solve the earlier defined problem
sufficiently(Coastlearn, 2014).

I will implement this alternative by enforcing the
points of safety, although it seems extreme, it is
not. Maybe, if the United States had provided a
more extensive incubation period before allow
personnel and out of county travelers, we would
not have so many incidents of contraction of EVD.
Pros- It provides an more in-depth quarantine time.
Cons- The PM Tony Abbott should have included
the Australian Medical Association (AMA) in the
initial decision for suspension of Visas and the
quartine period.

My thoughts
As a social worker my feelings would be torn
due to the fact that I am a social worker, I go
by the NASW Code of Ethics and live by the
mission first and foremost.
The safety of the citizens are important to
me, I am for advocating life in the instance of
this unwanted EVD.
I think the change would come and be
considerably effective, but it would take a
collaboration between the different countries.
