The candidate wrote a grant proposal to request funding for a Swivl robot to record lessons and flip classroom instruction. Through this process, the candidate practiced formally writing a grant, researched tools to engage students, and implemented strategic funding policies as outlined in technology plans. Completing the proposal demonstrated the candidate's ability to reflect on teaching practices, recommend technologies, and navigate procedures for seeking educational funding.

Candidates research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal technology plans and guidelines. Funding strategies may include the development, submission, and evaluation of formal grant proposals. (PSC 1.3/ISTE 1c) Reflection The Mini-Grant Proposal project is a sample of a grant application. This project provided me with an opportunity to practice formally writing a grant based off a specific need in my classroom. This allowed me to review an area where I would like to grow professionally, make a claim for how it will better my teaching and student learning, and provide a detail cost analysis. I completed this grant application as an individual assignment. Standard 1.3 claims that candidates must research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal technology plans and guidelines. After reflecting on my teaching practices, I decided that I wanted to increase student engagement in my math class by flipping some of my instruction. I wrote this grant for a robot that would hold my iPad to record myself teaching. After much research, I chose this Swivl robot because it contains a motion sensor and high quality audio capabilities, so it would follow my direction and pick up the audio beautifully. I implemented parts of this artifact at the end of the school year during the budget submission time period. This artifact represents my review, research, recommendation, and implementation of strategic funding programs and requests. This artifact demonstrates that technology leaders must be confident and courageous to seek financial support to promote the work of their teachers and best practices to twenty-first century leaners. By completing the Mini-Grant Proposal project, I conducted meaningful reflection and research on product use and specifics. This artifact also demonstrates my familiarity with policies and procedures when seeking educational funding. This artifact directly impacted school improvement, faculty development, and student learning because it required me to evaluate my classroom needs and select and evaluate a useful digital tool to
increase student engagement. This impact can be assessed through
technology-infused lesson plans and student performance scores with new, flipped instruction.
