When he was 18 He enrolled at the Jagellonica University of Krakow in
polish philology.
In 1939 his country (Poland) was attacked by the Nazis and all
universities closed
He and others young people organized and formed an underground
university where they studied philosophy, language and literature
When he was 21 he undertook the way of preparation for the priesthood.
In 1978 He was elected as successor of St Peter and published two
books: Crossing the Threshold of Hope and gift and mystery.
In 1981 he was attacked when he recovered sought the man who had
shot him and forgave him
He died on April in 2005 and finally was canonized by Pope Francisco on
April 27, 2014
He is our hero because
He was a man who suffered a lot, but never lost hope because he put
Christ at the center of his life and he learned to trust. Christ was his joy,
his strength and his love. He said that hope is stronger than fear, and
that love is stronger than death.
He worked for the young people, for the family. He fought for the sick,
the elderly, the poor, the oppressed and especially for human rights,
because all is God and a world without God is a world without joy,
without beauty without true humanity
