Therearetwotypesoflearningdisabilities:(1)NonverbalLearningDisabilities(NLD)and(2)Languagebased
LearningDisabilities.LearningDisabilitiessharemanysymptomswiththeautismspectrumdisorders.Inorderto
beconsideredatruelearningdisability,thesymptom(s)mustnotbebetteraccountedforbythepersonsprimary
diagnosissuchasautism,PDDNOS,orAspergersSyndrome.Manystudentswithlearningdisabilitieshave
difficultywithsocialskills,sensoryprocessing,andlanguageprocessing.

NonverbalLearningDisabilitiesaredisordersthatinterferewithtraditionallearningandcansometimesmimic
partsoftheautismspectrumdisorders.Someoftheseinclude:AttentionDeficitHyperactivityDisorder,visual
perceptiondisabilities(suchasreadingordyslexia,writingordysgraphia,andmathematicalordyscaluca),and
