2015- 2016
Ms. Bethany Jones
Goals & Objectives:
In Math, the students will further their understanding of mathematical concepts including
place value, basic operations, and financial literacy among others. Students will leave 3rd
grade knowing their multiplication and division problems up to 10. Students will also
understand how to connect these mathematical concepts with real world situations.
Policies & Expectations:
Classroom Rules:

Follow directions quickly!

Raise your hand for permission to speak.
Raise your hand for permission to leave your seat.
Make smart choices!
Keep you dear teacher happy!

Bathroom:
Students are not allowed to leave during whole class lesson time to use the restroom.
Students may use the given restroom signal to leave the room during independent
practice or center time. Students are expected to sign out and not waste time when out
of the classroom. Students will also be expected to help monitor that only one boy/girl at
a time is out of class for the restroom. If restroom time is abused students will only be
allowed to use the restroom during class restroom breaks.
Emergencies:
No matter the situation, students are asked to silently await instruction. Instruction for
evacuation in the case of a fire drill is posted near the door. Students will silently line up
and follow the teacher outside. In case of lockdown drill or severe weather, the students
will need to silently move to their spots in the room. These spots will be indicated by the
teacher who will refer to the emergency plan posted in each classroom.

Late Work: Late work will be accepted for up to three days after it is due with a 10 point
penalty taken off for each day it is late. If the assignment is not turned at the end of
three days from its assigned date, the student will be asked to complete the work during
center time for a maximum grade of 70.
Make-Up Work: Students who are absent are responsible for getting their make-up work
from the designated folder. If a student is absent only one day, they will have two days
to hand in their make-up work. Students who miss tests or major project deadlines
should discuss with the teacher about rescheduling testing or project presentation.
Tutoring:
Students who require additional instruction will be provided after school tutoring in
addition to our in class intervention. The instructor will send home a permission slip to
parents /guardians to schedule tutoring; there will be designated Tutoring Day(s) weekly
before school in my classroom.
Discipline:
Students are expected to follow HSA Garlands school rules and policies at all times. If
students do not uphold the expectations of the school and the classroom instructor and
demonstrate appropriate behaviors, they will receive one warning. Students who
continue to be uncooperative or violate the rules and expectations will receive the
corresponding DPS points and the instructor will contact the parents/guardians about the
incident. If problems persist, the teacher may request a parent conference and refer the
student to the office.
Students who continually uphold the expectations of the instructors and follow school
policies and those who model positive behavior will receive PRS points. Positive
Reinforcement Points can negate DPS points, and serve as a reward and incentive for
positive behavior. Students can also earn coupons for positive behavior. Coupons can be
used for prizes such as lunch with the teacher, choosing your seat for the day, or Ipad
time during lunch among other things.
