Agoun NOTES TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE JULY 21, 2015, STEF PALANIUK-815-467-3127 spalaniuk@min201.org MAINTENANCE /CUSTODIAN REQUEST-Attached you will find the ob descriptions and the requirements of the District Maintenance and Property Services Manager, Groundskeeper and District Maintenance and Property Services Assistant. In addition is a listing of the various items that need to be accomplished. We are recommending one person, Jason Winterbottom, as we needed at east one person to train for Kevin Smith. The question and discussion is on whether two assistants are needed. Jerry Blair and Kevin Smith will be at the meeting to answer questions you may have, ADMINISTRATIVE AND DISTRICT OFFICE STAFF RAISES-You will find attached the proposal for salary increases baseé on a 496 increase, which isthe same as the certified staff as well as what the MESP group is asking for. [would like to go over this with you in executive session. You may wish to approve or it can be carried over to the next board meeting. PRELIMINARY BUDGET 2015-2016-Attached for your review and comment isa preliminary budget for 2015-2016. You will first notice a nearly 3.0 million dollar difference between revenues and expenditures! We do not anticipate it willbe this, large a difference but we do not have accurate numbers from the state as of today. ‘They do not anticipate final numbers until August. A couple of the differences in ‘gaps can be accounted from the increase in amount the district will pay for insurance for family with the new plan-that is approximately $400,000 additional. Another $100,000 is money set aside for the penalty forthe previous ‘superintendent. As you can see these two account for nearly $500,000. For the ‘revenue we used conservatively projected numbers from the state (as best we have them), and the actual tax calculation numbers from each ofthe counties. You will notice a substantial decrease In the fire prevention & safety taxes 2015-2016 ‘amount (rate last year 05 net $342,573 to this year’s rate at approximately 0050 fora net of $35,967). This also accounts fora discrepancy in revenue to expenditure. For the expenditures we used information (actuals) from this past ‘budget as well as actuals from the previous years (2014) budget to be able to get a trend of the expenditures. Im addition, there were several line items no longer used with between $1,000 & $5,000 in them. Ifline items had not been used for two years, we zeroed them out. One example isthe line item for gifted. Those monies seemed to be place holders and there were no expenditures for two years previous. There is a $500,000 contingency line item In the 10 account, $200,000 in Transportation and $250,000 in0&™M, Colleen and I put the numbers together as [have mentioned. Colleen had a lot of very goad information in place and formatting to allow this process to go much more quickly and smoothly. Itisa starting point for the new superintendent to go from. This is only information as a preliminary budget does not need to be approved until the August meeting, Your comments and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. ‘This would be for you to review and comment on between now and, the next board ‘meeting to ensure numbers are as accurate as possible. As more final information becomes available from the state, our numbers will be adjusted. BOARD POLICY 7:40-Attached is the current policy 7:40 and suggested language {for an updated 7:40, in addition you have the IESA guidelines (2.036) and policy 240. In light ofthe recent request for Interscholastic participation by home ‘schooled children discussion and direction needs to be had by the board. As a comparison Troy and Coal City do not allow participation but Channahon does. ‘Waiting to hear back from Saratoga and Minooka High School SEMI ANNUAL CLOSED MINUTES REVIEW-Attached you wil find a copy of the closed session minutes from July 2014 through December 2014. Semt-Annually the Board reviews closed session minutes with the intent to make the minutes open to the public. Itis my recommendation to make the closed session minutes open to the public. COMPUTER LABS UPGRADES @ AUX, JONES & WT-Aaron Souza will be in attendance ta share his thouights and plans an updating the computer labs at Jones, ‘Aux Sable and Walnut Trails. SHOULD YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY OF THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE, PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING IN CASE I NEED TO DO AY RESEARCH ‘ON ATOPIC FOR YOU. THANK YOU.
