Class: Form 2
Topic: Present Perfect Tense
Time allowed: 1 periods (40 minutes)
Objectives:
a. Students will learn the form of the present perfect tense.
b. Students will learn how to use present perfect tense.

1.Teacher introduces the form of the present perfect tense to students.

5 minutes

2.Teacher shows the various uses of the present perfect tense to students 20 minutes
by giving examples :
a. When we are talking about an action that has just been completed.
b. When we are talking about an action which started in the past and
is still true now.
c. When we are talking about an action in the past but we dont give
the exact time. We are more concerned about the result.
3. To let students practise the uses, ask them to study the pictures and
answer the questions orally.

5 minutes

4. Give students a situation. Students should play the different roles


using the present perfect tense. Teacher does the first one as an
example. (Pair work)
Steve will be going to Australia as a visiting student for three
months. Steves mother wants to ask him whether he has done all the
things on the list: buy a new suitcase, renew his passport, apply for a
visa, change money and buy an air- ticket.
e.g. Have you bought a new suitcase? Yes, I have.

5. Consolidation
5 minutes
Tell students that school will end in 5 minutes. Get every student to tell
what they have done to prepare to go home before they leave the
classroom.
