From the same website and same survey with a different subject being interviewed, the graph
shows a clear divide amongst the opinions of Black and White peoples. The Hispanic
demographic is more in the median of things which does not surprise me at all due to Hispanic
identification with either the minority with African-Americans or in the Southern Pride realm
due to their cultures flourishing in the Southern areas of the U.S. 42% of Whites associate the
symbol as Southern Pride while 66% of Black people see it being either partially or wholly
racist.

"Confederate Flag. Political Cartoon. A.F.Branco." Comically Incorrect. 25 June 2015. Web. 27
July 2015.
This political cartoon represents the ideology that the freedom of speech of those in favor of the
Confederate flag is being infringed upon to the point that nothing with be able to be truly said. In
the cartoon, Jefferson Davis, the first and only president of the Confederate States of America, is
speaking to Abraham Lincoln, who stands behind the United States of Americas flag, that his
flag will be next to be BANNED FOR THE SINS OF ITS PAST. On the bottom, you can see a
cantankerous looking man with a black paintbrush who is about to mark the U.S. flag. The PC
on this hat stands for political correctness: a term used to criticize language, actions, or
policies seen as being excessively calculated to not offend or disadvantage any particular group
of people in society. He is also wearing a HOPE Obama gauge in his ear as he is also dressed as
a communist Soviet Leader. This implies that the philosophy of the adage, try to make everyone
happy and youll end up making no one happy is in full time effect. The need to be so nonoffensive is taking away the First Amendment right of Freedom of Speech, synonymously like
the Soviet Union and its policies.
