France pulls the strings to hosts 2015 World Puppet Festival

Listed recently amongst the worlds Top 20 Events to Travel for in 2015, The 18 th
World Puppet Festival will be held in Charleville-Mzires in France this year from
September 18th to 27th.
A key event in the life of the region for more than 50 years the Festival will bring
together companies from all five continents of the world, who will then work their
magic to transforms this quiet, historic town into a densely populated and highly
atmospheric world capital for 'Les Petits Comdiens'.
Held every two years, the Festival attracts around 150,000 spectators, and has
developed to the point where more than 40 different venues across the town are
now needed to help to host up to 250 performing companies from around 25
countries.
While the town and its inhabitants give way to a mild sense of lunacy for the 10-day
Festival, it is just as important to recognise that majority of the shows are aimed as
much at adults as at children.
The full programme has just been released, and can be found at http://www.festivalmarionnette.com/images/pdf-or-docs-telechargeables/Programme2015quadri.pdf.
Full details of the Festival, its history, and the tradition of puppetry in the Ardennes
are featured on the website www.festival-marionnette.com.
Just three hours' drive time from Calais, and linked from the UK with the high speed
TGV trains (with changes in either Lille, or Paris), The French Ardennes tourist
board has created a special package for anyone wanting to visit at the time of the
World Puppet Festival. Costing from 95 per person based on two people sharing a
double room, it includes one night B&B at a three star hotel, dinner at Garden Ice
Caf Place Ducale, two puppets shows, and an official Festival programme.
