significant one to me. It brought me the realization of how important it is to build a community
in my classroom, to incorporate art in my lessons whenever possible, and finally, to always strive
to address diversity and promote critical thinking in my day-to-day lessons and interactions with
my students.
During this broadcast, it became apparent of how important the trend of technology will
be in my future as a teacher. In addition to that trend, I am aware of how culturally reflective
teaching practices and inclusive classrooms and anti-bullying mandates will be to creating a safe
and educationally rich environment. These are not just trends, but values that create successful
classrooms and successful students. In addition, I mentioned the eco-friendly classroom in my
broadcast. This trend is a growing concern that we need to prepare our students for. We are not
just educating our students academically; we are creating responsible, engaged citizens.
The final question of the broadcast addressed why I think I should be hired. This
prompted me to truly evaluate my strengths and skills for the field of education. The mock
interview prepared me for what I can anticipate as I embark on my career, and helped me to
formalize the interview process.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the video broadcast was a rich and rewarding experience, and one that I
will continue to reflect on in the future. It has opened my eyes to the possibility of presenting
this type of experience in some form to my future students, and enabled me to keep up with the
innovative and technological trends of the future. My time at Medaille has prepared, enlightened
and groomed me for the field of elementary education. The lessons, preparation and dedication
of my colleagues and instructors have reminded me of what the role of a classroom can bring to
your life. I have been stretched academically, emotionally and physically to reach my full
potential and the very same vigor and stimulation is what I hope to provide for my future
students.
