Writing 2 Portfolio Reflection Letter

During ten weeks, I have developed into a coherent, concise, and argumentative writer
for a few reasons. One is that I have been drilled to realize that an excellent and legible essay is a
basic but logically fluid and sound argument. Other reasons include the necessary components
that are associated with top-tier essays. Such components are fluidity, coherence, logical flow,
clear introduction and thesis, and, last but not least, a semi-recursive conclusion. In order to truly
grasp those concepts, I had to complete several project builders, annotate the course reader, and
free write a multitude of writing project drafts. Working fairly arduously on drafts and free
writing days in advance, I always stay on top of my assignments and projects. With the multitude
and variety of assignments throughout the course, I have become more confident in beginning
and attacking their objectives. Whether it was finding counterarguments for having a tele-I.C.U.
in a local hospital or comparing the advantageousness of two Cuban families reaching the United
States, I still found ways to attack each project builder and writing project objective.
In the duration of the course, I found the writing project assignment asking to compare
the Cheesecake Factory business model to that of general hospitals an interesting one; at least, I
found it to be my favorite of the three assignments. The reason I liked it was that I have an
interest in the way hospitals run as well as the intricacies behind they way the Cheesecake
Factory and other commercialized gourmet restaurants run. Drafting and redrafting this particular
writing project, I soon learned that in order to perfect my argument and my essay writing, I must
search for blatant errors; such errors would stray the reader away from the main argument and
blur the clarity of the entire essay. So what is one thing I would take away from this course that
is extremely important for my future academic success at UCSB? Editing, proofreading, and
ensuring the essay maintains clarity and the argument and center of attention is not lost.
