Thoughweunfortunatelydonothavethesourceoftheinformation,itwas
foundsomewhereonthewebthatEMDhasbeenusedtofairlyeffectively
determinethedifferencebetweena"fake"signalsynthesizedtolooklike
naturaldataandanaturalsignalofthesametype.
Severalexperimentsweconductedsupportthisfinding.Whileseveralgroup
memberslookedonlineforsignalsonwhichtousetheEMD,onegroup
memberattemptedtogetameaningfulEMDoutofsignalshecreated.
Severaldifferentmethodswereattempted,includingusingsinewaveswhose
frequencychangewithtime,withnoiseadded.Thedecompositionswerea
messwefoundwecouldnotcreateasignalwiththesuperpositionofcausal
modesthatnaturalsignalssooftenhave.
Hopefullywewillsoonbeabletopostsomeofthecreatedsignalsmentioned
andtheirEMDstheyhavebeenlostbutmayyetberediscovered.
