Adopting Gender-Neutral Pronouns

By Elton Camp
The University of Tennessee
More inclusive wants to be
Theres good reason, they fear
From looks, genders not clear
Sexist pronouns could offend
Their use, its time to end
Lest a student be called she
When self-concept is of he
Or an apparent male
To he wont hail
But how can this possibly be?
Replace he and she with ze
Hir replaces him and her with ease
Students are asked to use them, please
But this must be made perfectly clear:
Hir is to be pronounced as here
