Brody Physical Education

Healthy Bodies. Healthy Minds.
Physical Education is an important and unique part of the daily instructional program. Not only
does it contribute to the overall goals of education, but it also contributes to the development
and maintenance of fitness, motor skills, social skills, health, and brain development.
The Des Moines Public Schools provides a comprehensive curriculum that allows students
choice in a planned sequential instructional program that teaches skills, knowledge and behaviors
to promote lifelong fitness.
These are necessary to function at an adequate level of competence enabling each student to be
an active, physically and mentally fit individual throughout life.

Our Mission

Classroom Expectations
In accordance with Brody PBIS and International Baccalaureate expectations, Brody students are expected to

Buddy rooms will be used for students that are struggling
with those ideals. Upon proper reflection, students will be
able to re-enter the classroom. If reflection does not
properly accommodate the situation, parents may be contacted and/or administrators involved.

At Brody, we are constantly striving to provide students with opportunities to improve

fitness levels now and in
their future.
Optimum fitness can be

In middle
school physical education, all students should
experience a
variety of
games and
fitness that they might enjoy later in
life. It is an opportunity for students
to learn that there are no limits to
what they can accomplish with a little
effort. Physical education in schools
is the front line in our struggle to end
childhood obesity.
