Welcome to Geometry! This semester we will learn a lot and accomplish much in the wonderful
wide world of mathematics.
What we will be learning this semester
Term 1:
Tools of Geometry (10 days)
Reasoning and Proof (8 days)
Parallel and Perpendicular Lines (6 days)
Congruent Figures (8 days)
Transformations (3 days)
Solving Systems of Equations (2days)
Simplifying Radicals (4 days)

Term 2:
Similarity (8 days)
Right Triangles and Trigonometry (7 days)
Polygons and Area (11 days)
Circles and Area (9 days)
Surface Area and Volume (5days)

Grading Policies:
Formative Assessment (20%)
Homework
All homework is due the Friday of the week it is assigned for full credit. I will do homework checks at the
beginning of each lesson to monitor which assignments are complete or missing.
In Class Work
In class work will consist of warm-ups, exit-slips, or activities conducted in class. If you are absent, that days
warm-up and/or exit slip will be exempted from your final grade. However, activities may not be exempt. Check
with Ms. Bohler to see if a make-up activity/worksheet is needed.
Quizzes
Quizzes will be given throughout each chapter. Retakes will be available. If you miss a quiz, it can be made up
before school, after school, or during AAA.
Summative Assessment (80%)
Tests will be given at the end of each chapter. Test retakes are allowed, only if you have been consist with
completing homework throughout the chapter (meaning you have missed one or no assignments) and if you
correct the mistakes on your old test. Retakes need to be completed within a week.

Classroom Policies
Tardies
After the bell rings and I start class, you are expected to be working on the warm-up or listening to instructions.
If you come in after I have begun class without an excused pass, you are tardy.
1st and 2nd tardy: free tardy with a warning
3rd tardy: stay at the end of class for 3 minutes
4th tardy: stay at the end of class for 3 minutes
5th tardy: 20 minute detention with Ms. Bohler after school and a call home
6th tardy: Disciplinary Referral. Dont have a 6th tardy.
Bathroom Pass
Dont leave class in the first 10 or last 10 minutes of class. Otherwise, if you need to go, GO. Take the gotta
go pass though and be back in five minutes.
Cell Phones
The greatest respect you can give someone is your attention. I do not mind cell phones, as long as you are
respectful. Use the following guidelines for cell phone use
During Lessons: Please put your cell phone on silent and out of view.
During Work time: Cell phones are allowed out, as long as they do not become a major distraction.
During Quizzes/Tests: NO CELL PHONES. Away and silent.

My office is Room A117 (in Lower A). I will be here before and after school if you have a question or want
extra help. If you know you will be stopping in, please let me know so I can be prepared to help you.
My phone number is extension 28003. However since I share rooms with multiple teachers, I am more likely to
respond quicker via email. You can reach me by email at abohler@bhmschools.org. I will try to reply quickly;
however the later in the day it gets the less I check my email. So, email me earlier rather than later.
