Real Life As a graduation requirement all students are required to
take class for a semester taught by a variety of teachers with expertise
in the curricular areas, that include: Financial Literacy Cooking & Independent Living Health/Wellness Home Repair Auto Repair Technical Math This is a co-taught, non-traditional high school math class where students learn mechanical and technical math concepts in the classroom and then implement those skills on a construction site or in the industrial technology classroom. Co-Teaching Classrooms with two teachers teaching is prevalent throughout the district to assist in student learning. This allows for teachers to differentiate their instruction and for students to have support while learning. Digital Library (MyOn Reader) The Bellevue Schools have a digital library available to students that has over 7,000 titles available for grades K-8. This is accessible 24/7 with an internet access, and books can also be downloaded to computers and iPads. 1:1 School Bellevue is in its 5th year of a 1:1 program. Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year it has expanded to grades 5-12, with iPads and other computers available to other grades on carts and in lab settings. College Credit Courses & Hours Students are offered nearly 25 courses taught at the Bellevue Schools, with an unlimited number of online classes available for students. All students are required to take an online class for graduation, and the average student graduates with 18 college credits. Extracurricular Opportunities As the list below shows the Bellevue Schools offer a variety of opportunities. Over 92% of students are involved in at least one activity, with over 78% involved in 2 or more activities. ACT All students are required to the ACT their Junior year, and this is paid for by the school district. ACT scores for our students are near the state average, and this is used for enrollment in college courses while
in high school along with for students college applications. We believe
that this assists students in planning their life after high school. Graduation Rate The Bellevue Schools have a very high graduation rate, well above the state and national levels. Three of the last 5 years the school has had 100% graduation rate, with the other two years being at the 96% level or higher. Post Graduation Plans 85% of Bellevue graduates over the last five years have attended college after graduation, along with several students attending the military or receiving other specific training opportunities. Teacher-Student Ratio Bellevue Elementary has two sections of each grade in most cases, with some years the sections increasing to three sections. Normal section sizes are approximately 22. Bellevue MS/HS has a student-to-teacher ratio of 13. Pre-School Bellevue Schools offer preschool for 3- and 4-year olds.
Daily CAFE--The elementary teachers focus on teaching specific
reading strategies that improve reading performance. A variety of strategies are taught and practiced and fall under the main categories of comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expand vocabulary, creating the acronym CAFE. There is an emphasis on involving students in authentic and meaningful tasks to drive students to become "better readers and writers." There is also an importance placed on student choice within the literacy block. The program is common core aligned and backed by research in best teaching practices. Everyday Math--Everyday math is an active learning environment where students build their mathematical knowledge with the help of their teacher and their classmates. ST Math (Problem Solving)--Bellevue elementary utilizes ST Math, a game-based instructional software program designed to boost math
comprehension and proficiency. The program uses visual learning and
brain research to promote mathematical understanding. The games use interactive and rich animations to visually represent key mathematical concepts.
