Third Grade Curriculum
Reading/Language Arts-Emphasis is on developing meaning
and reading for understanding. All language processes will be
promoted: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Flexible
grouping will occur to suit the needs of students.
Close Reading

Accelerated Reader
Spelling City
Math- Problem Solving and real-life applications in geometry,
probability and statistics, algebra and computation are the form of
our math program.
Number Talks
Reflex Math/Speed Tests/Multiplication.com
Science-The art of questioning, hypothesizing, investigating and
discovering. Students will read and try real world situations to
learn how the world works.
Social Studies- The students will learn about the history,
economy, symbols and heroes of Merced County
The Arts- Songs, music, and visual arts skills will be taught.
P.E.- Exercise and fitness are key! Game Day is the name of our
base program.

What can you do to help?
Provide a quiet space for your child to do their homework
with supplies: pencils, pens, crayons, glue stick, scissors,
several books to read.
Help out in the classroom on a scheduled basis, or at
events, like Pioneer Day, Science Fair, etc.
Check your childs homework carefully each night. Make
sure they are keeping up with AR, Reflex Math.
Listen to your child read. Are they reading with expression?
Support our fieldtrip fund.
Encourage your child and talk to them about their future
education opportunities.
Order magazines for our class: Ranger Rick, Cricket, and
National Geographic Kids are great choices.

 Support Postcrossings with pennies.

Supply us with supply items for our class store: erasers,
pencils, pens, folders, etc.
