DISCUSSION vs.

DIALOGUE
In discussion, members are responsible for:
-- ensuring others understand their point of view.
In dialogue members have two responsibilities.
-- understanding otherspoints of view (They don expect others to prove something to
them. They make an effort to understand the other perspective.); and
-- communicating effectively so that others can understand their point of view.
Dialogue requires:
a desire to understand othersperspectives
recognizing one own assumptions
setting them aside while listening
probing for understanding
