Feather Circle: The Logo Piece


In this assignment, you are going to create a logo or symbol that represents who you are.
This logo should be intensely personal. It should reflect your beliefs and or identity. It
should reflect your brand and announce to the world how you want to be seen and what you
want to be known for doing or being. Think about all the activities, hobbies, and interests
that play apart in the person you are and who you want to be. After you create the logo,
you are going to write a segment explaining why you chose this symbol and what it means to
you. The piece can be written in the following format:

Be Creative! Choose a format that best represents your personality. .


Please keep in mind that all symbols, pictures, logos etc. must be school appropriate. If I
deem that any of your pictures or symbols are inappropriate, you will forfeit the
assignment.
Timeline:
Wed August 12: Introduce Feather Circles and the Logo Piece
Thur. August 13: Assign workshop groups and go over expectations for Peer Group
Workshops. Homework: Finish your 1st draft of your Logo Piece. This is due Monday Aug.
17
Monday August 17: 1st draft is due. 1st peer group workshop will be after warm up.
Tuesday and Wednesday August 18-19: Homework: work on 2nd draft which is due Wed
Aug. 9.
Thur. August 20: 2nd draft of the Logo Piece is due. The 2 nd Peer Group Workshop will
be after warm up. Homework: Final draft of the Logo Piece due tomorrow August 21.
Friday August 21: Feather Circle and final draft of the Logo Piece is due. Make sure you
have both the printed copy with the rubric and an electronic copy for the class Wikispace.
Homework: Write 10 thank you notes to 10 of your classmates of the pieces you liked
most.

Scoring Guide: Logo Piece


Class Participation:

The student worked diligently in class to complete the assignment. This


means that the student is not off task by texting, talking with friends
about a non-related subject, or on computer websites that do not pertain to

the assignment.
The student turned in each draft on time.
The student actively participated in Peer Group Workshop by providing 3
positive comments and 2 improvements to each of the students group

members on their work.


The student engages in feather circle by either reading their piece out
loud, having another student read their piece, or by one on one reading with

the teacher.
The student writes a total of 10 thank you notes to each of his or her
classmates of the pieces that they liked.

Rough Drafts:

The student turns in each rough draft on time.


The student shows the aspects of revision and rewriting with changes to
their pieces suggested by their Peer Workshop members on each draft.
