Attributes of God Father

In these 3 chapters Jesus mentions the Father 17 times.
I. Why does the Bible use this Father/child relationship?
The Lords prayer gives us some answers Mt. 6:9-13.
A. It is a relationship of subordination (v. 9-10).
B. It is a relationship of dependence (v. 11).
C. It is a relationship for guidance & help in daily life (v. 13).
II. What does our Heavenly Father do for us?
A. He provides for us spiritually.
1. A spiritual relationship is necessary (Mt. 7:21-23). This
relationship is not based on religious activity.
2. Spiritual birth is required: you must be born again.
Jesus explained it in terms of entering a narrow gate
Mt. 7:13-14.
3. He gives spiritual cleansing (Mt. 6:12).
B. He provides for us physically (Mt. 6:25-33).
1. He takes care of our basic needs food & clothing.
2. His gifts are good (Mt. 7:7-11). He gives us according
to our needs and according to our asking.
C. God rewards us for certain activities (Mt. 6:4, 6, 17-18).
III. What does our Heavenly Father want from us?
A. He wants us to have correct motives for our activities of
worship (Mt. 6:1-7; 16-18; giving, praying, fasting).
B. He wants us to manifest His nature (Mt. 5:43-48).
C. He wants us to do good works (Mt. 5:13-16).
