Manager Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel Dive & Watersports Center
During my tenure, turnover and profit were the highest on record and the improvements I implemented enabled the
center to achieve PADI Gold Palm Resort status.
Ski Resort Manager Inghams
In my first season with Inghams, I successfully managed and substantially increased sales for resort which had
previously had the same Reps for 7 years. Exceeded sales targets during the worldwide recession; sales per head were
20% above target. In my second season, after implementing many improvements in my new resort, I received the award
for the 'Best Year on Year Sales Improvement' for resorts in the French Alps.
Ski Instructor Crans Ski School
I brought in $20,000 of new business during the 4 month winter season through contacts I developed with a UK ski travel
company.

Role: Responsible for all aspects of a busy dive and watersports center at a luxury resort hotel catering to many VIP
clients.
Duties: I managed a team of up to 9 local staff and 4 instructors and co-ordinated the multitude of activities offered by
the center: dive & snorkel trips, windsurfing, water-skiing & wakeboarding, sailing cruises, kayaking etc. Also taught
courses and guided dives.
Achievements: During my tenure, turnover and profit were the highest on record and the improvements I implemented
enabled the center to achieve PADI Gold Palm Resort status. Implemented and improved operational and organizational
systems, created stock inventories, renovated and refitted the boats and dive center, constructed a classroom and an
equipment repair station, designed promotional strategies and materials.

Role: Started as an instructor teaching PADI courses, later became Head Instructor. Responsible for all aspects of dive

Equipment Maintenance
Competent in basic repair and maintenance of all components of scuba equipment. Worked with Sherwood, Cressi,
Mares, SeaQuest, US Divers and Divetek. Familiar with the challenges of servicing equipment in developing countries.
Boat Handling
Basic boat driving skills. Some experience driving boats in calm coastal waters. Driven RIBs, speedboats and traditional
African Dhows (large wooden boats) with outboards. A bit rusty as I haven't driven for a few years now.
Boat Maintenance
Prior experience with basic boat, mooring and outboard engine maintenance. Quite a few years ago, so very rusty.

I have worked in the sport tourism industry for eighteen years. Apart from scuba diving I have worked mostly in ski
resorts. I have been working winter seasons since 1997 and I have worked in Austria, France, Norway, Switzerland and
the USA. I have worked with all types of clients from VIPs and 5 star hotel guests to budget holidaymakers. As a ski
instructor I teach courses and guide in English, French, German and Spanish. I have also managed resorts for UK ski
travel companies. The job involves sales and accounting, customers service, supplier relations, logistics etc. Below are
some selected examples of my sport tourism employment history.
Ski Resort Manager & Representative

Role: Responsible for all aspects of resort operations, with up to 200 clients per week and a weekly turnover of up to
17,000 euros.
Duties: staff management, co-ordination of all resort operations, liaising and negotiating deals with hotels & suppliers,
company accounts, company reports & paperwork, organizing airport transfers, selling lift passes, ski hire, ski lessons
and entertainments to clients, leading guided ski tours, organising entertainments programme, welcoming & assisting
clients, resolving problems.

Ski Instructor
ESS Crans Ski School, Crans Montana, Switzerland. December - April 2008/09, 06/07, 04/05, 03/04
Role: Four seasons teaching skiing and guiding in English, French, German and Spanish. Mostly private lessons but
also some group lessons. Taught beginner to advanced level. Occasionally gave some snowboard and snowblade
beginner lessons. Responsible for the safety of clients on the mountain.
Clientle: Adults and children, diverse nationalities. Worked with many VIP clients. Ski guiding for groups of banking
clients on corporate events (JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Moscow Narodny Bank, Morgan Stanley etc). Worked with
several disabled clients.
Achievements: I brought in a $20,000 of new business through contacts developed with a UK ski travel company.
