WATER PROOF TESTING PROCEDURE

I.
PURPOSE
- The permeability testing is only performed after completion of all construction
works, excluding painting work (if any). Backfilling work will be carry out after
completion of all testing works.
- The permeability test to check the quality and storage capacity of the concrete tank
after finishing construction works
- To check and detect the permeable partial locations.
II.
-

PREPARATION WORKS BEFORE TESTING

Cleaning bottom and wall of concrete tank
Chipping form tie location and treats it by Sika Monotop
Mark design water level on inside concrete wall of tank
Mark the level in proportion with 3xL/m2 of wetted tank surface
Testing the concrete strength of concrete tank
Record level of existing tank before pumping water into
Taking over of structure of concrete tank before testing

1. Monitoring the tank during testing of waterproof:

Installation of steel monitoring points on the roof of concrete tank according

to size and approved design drawing
Using the Theodolite to take level of bench mark elevation before pumping
water into the tank.
Installation of water meters to the surface of different colour painted bar on
concrete wall with 0.5m distance
2. Pumping water into the tank:
Pumping work divides in 2 steps
Step 1: Pumping water to 1m height level of tank and start monitoring in
24 hours to test concrete permeable of water tank bottom, total volume of
water for tank is 121 m3
Step 2: Pumping water to design level 4.0 equivalence with 4.55 m height
of water from bottom
3. Test Results permeability :
According to national standards ISO 5641 : 2012 Section 10.1.13 water tank is
considered satisfactory for using when the amount of loss water in 3 testing day
follows as below table.
