SUMMARY OF CLINICAL ACTIVITIES

My first experience in a dental setting began as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA-4 years). For the
past 4 years, I performed RDA duties including: chair side assisting, building provisional crowns and
applying IRM, performing coronal polishing and fluoride application, removal of excess cement with
ultrasonic scaler and taking alginate impression. I have worked in general, periodontal, endodontic,
pediatric, oral and maxillofacial dental practices. While working part time as a RDA, I enrolled into the
Dental Hygiene program at Chabot College to further my education in the oral health field. The wide
range of dental hygiene and dental assisting experiences has given me an ideal preparation to provide oral
health care for underserved populations.

SUMMARY OF SERVICE ACTIVITIES

As a Student Dental Hygienist, I have volunteered to contact sponsors for donations and to provide
preventive dental hygiene care with Give Kids A Smile Day community event in Hayward. In addition, I
have joined the 19th Annual Chinatown Community Health Fair and A Pathway to Wellness Health Fair
in San Francisco to provided dental hygiene education and services for the low socioeconomic status
population.

My teaching experience has been on informal classroom instruction. I have prepared and presented
presentations in Chabot College and UCSF dental hygiene programs. And, I have experience teaching
one-on-one with clients and at health fairs and educating the public about oral health. Prior to dental
hygiene, I was a math teacher assistant in Math at City College of San Francisco. I taught and mentored
college students on Arythmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry and Calculus.

MENTORING NARRATIVE
My mentoring experience has involved informal mentoring of undergraduate classmates at Chabot College
dental hygiene program. I assisted my colleagues with freshman year challenges by guiding and offering
them advice with regards to school preparation, clinic and working experience.
