Kailash Chandra Sabat remembers the difficulties his family faced starting from the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. While he once believed politicians were corrupt, he later defended political leaders through his writings. During his mother's last rites in Puri, Sabat faced harassment from others trying to provoke him, including a mobile shop owner who was rude when his phone needed repairs, a fruit vendor who wrongly accused him of theft, and a man in Thane who denied him sleep late at night. Sabat believes he avoided physical confrontation in these instances by maintaining his patience and control.
