Education Technology

The evolution of education has been changed in many ways in the last 30 years. We
now have more efficient ways of learning then we use to have. Skinners teaching machines
were one of the first forms of computer-based learning. There has been a recent revival of
programmed learning approaches as a result of Massive Open Online Courses, (MOOCS),
since machine based testing scales much more easily than human-based assessment. The
British made a broadcast for educational. The first adult educational broadcast was BBC 1924
(2010).
The broadcast was made for college students audio programs involved mainly oral
communication, the television programs did not use lectures as such, but focused more on the
common formats of general television, such as documentaries, demonstration of processes, and
cases/case studies. Technology has come a long way from not having computers and phones to
having them in every school.
In todays education, some textbooks and paper and pen are still used, but in some
classes, iPads and computers are used. The majority of schools use computers for their
education. I hear a lot of people talk about the use of computers and chromebooks in their
schools. Most of my own classes here at Northview use computers or Chromebooks.
Today the ratio of students to Internet connected classroom computers is about 8:1.
About 99% of schools, and 87% of instructional rooms, are connected to the Internet (2015).
Half of schools report that 90% or more of teachers use computers daily, and 74% of students
use it at least an hour a week (2015). 28 states have now established state virtual schools; 12
states have at least one virtual charter school (2015). Newer technologies are increasing:
laptops (54% of schools), wireless networks (45%0, and instructional whiteboards (30%) (2015).
I believe that creating a system that physically connects to the user's body would be
effective. It could send signals to hospitals, a personal doctor, and even your own
phone/computer. In an NBC report a doctor, of the name Dr. Eric Topol, creates a new app for
your iphone along with another device that connects his phone and himself by wireless
connection. He is able to tell what his blood pressure, glucose levels, and more just by placing
his fingers on the back of his case of his iphone. If everyone was supplied with this technology
citizens would have to pay less for medical scans that cost hundreds of dollars. Having
technology like this could help someone before there's a real problem with alerts to when their
becoming unhealthy. This kind of technology can save lives, and cost less.
A sculpture created by a 3D printer, and designed digitally was all created through
todays technology. Although technology like this exists there is still one device that Ive thought
of that still hasnt been created. Could you imagine a device that would take data from your
mind and create a permitted image? For those artist that always have that image in their mind
but seem to never seem to be able to create the precise piece of art. In the article Technology
and art: Engineering the future written by Eyal Gever he states and explains the convenience of
3D printing for artist everywhere, but could you imagine these properties added to the 3D
printer. Buildings created with no blue prints but just your imagination alone. Animations being
created from the human mind and hooked up to a computer to create entertainment. Many of
these conveniences could be used for art, engineering, and other courses at high schools, and
colleges to give open new paths for student jobs. This kind of technology can open new paths to

just more than education, and jobs, but creativity as well. Education took some big turns as a
result of technology. There will be a lot more things to learn from in the upcoming future.
