Required Props (Cross, candles, symbol etc): Bible, cross, and five
violet candles, and a purple table cloth.
How will symbols be displayed/used? (What specific action?): The
bible will be used for the readings, the cross as a reminder of the
importance of the suffering Jesus faced within lent and triumphant victory
over death, a purple table cloth to represent the colour of Lent, and the
candles will be used to mark each Sunday of Lent.

Opening Prayer:
God of wilderness and water,
your Son was baptized and tempted as we are.
Guide us through this season,
that we may not avoid struggle,
but open ourselves to blessing,
through the cleansing depths of repentance
and the heaven-rending words of the Spirit.
