Grading SUMMARY
70% Summative Assessments (tests, quizzes, projects)
30% Formative Assessments (homework, classwork, reflections)
Grades will be regularly maintained on Schoology. Your parents will be able to access these
grades, also!

SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT PoliciES

Students should be prepared to complete tests and quizzes in class during the allotted
time - there will be no time extensions. There will be opportunities to improve upon your
scores as necessary.
If you score 70% or higher, you can do corrections for up to half of your points back.
If you score below 70%, you can retake the assessment (with conditions met) to
achieve up to an 85%.
There are no retakes/corrections on projects.

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT PoliciES

Classwork will be numbered and kept in our binders. It is your responsibility to keep up
with completing the classwork. At the end of each unit, there will be a binder check to
ensure that all assignments have been completed thoroughly.
Homework may be given nightly. It is the expectation that your homework is complete and
that you have
shown your work
! We will go over the homework at the start of most
classes, so it is important that you come prepared to correct your work and make
adjustments as necessary. It may be part of your binder check grade.

CHROMEBOOK USE
We are so fortunate to have ample technology available at the Galvin Middle School to
support our learning. Chromebooks are to be used explicitly for academic purposes. When
in class, the devices are to remain closed unless instructed. Students earn strikes by using
their Chromebooks inappropriately (without instruction or permission, for games,
disrupting class); three strikes will result in an office detention.

Absence Policy
It is the responsibility of the student to make up all work missed due to absence. Missed
work can be found in the class crate. You will have as many days as
you were absent to make up missed work.
