Introduction to French

An introduction to the French language. Students will learn basic


modes of classroom communication (Bonjour, ca va?), numbers (un,
deux, trois), colours (rouge, jaune, rose) and actions (faire, aller, avoir).

Students will work towards being able to understand and talk about
their body parts, and their likes and dislikes (jaime, je naime pas), by
reviewing and furthering previous years language and learning.

Identity
Students will work towards developing identity cards about
themselves, using descriptions of themselves (height, eye colour) and
other personal information (age, place of birth), by using previous
years language and learning.

Introductions
Students will use previous years language learning to develop
introductions of themselves and of a friend.

Students will learn vocabulary and how to express how they are
feeling physically and emotionally (Comment ca va? Ca va mal; jai mal
au ventre).

Students will learn vocabulary used to talk about their families and
describe how they and others look, (e.g. body parts, hair colour, what
they are wearing).

Students will develop previous years learning to be able to describe


how they and others look, elaborating about what they like to wear on
different occasions and why.

Weather

Seasons (1)

Students will learn the days of the week, weather words and
descriptions of the weather on specific days. Students will be able to
express the time of day it is and if it is hot or cold (huit heure du soir il
fait froid).

Students will build on previous years language learning with the


names of each season, be able to describe the corresponding weather
that occurs during each season, and what they would wear in that
weather.

My Family

Students will build on the previous years language learning about


their family, and will be able to elaborate on how many people are in
their family (mre, pre, grand-mre), what pets they have (un chat,
un chien, un oiseau) what they like and dislike (jaime/je naime pas
faire) doing at home.

Students will learn how to express how many people are in their family
(mre, pre, grand-mre), how old they (Il/elle a # ans) are and their
likes and dislikes (Il/elle aime/naime pas).

My home

Seasons (2)
Students will use previous years language learning to develop weather
reports, as well as exploring the climate differences in Australia and
Francophone countries.

Routines
Using previous years learning, students will develop daily and weekly
routines based on their lives (Lundi matin je me leve et puis je mange
mon petit dejeuner; Samedi matin je joue du tennis).
