This teacher is fully certified and/or licensed by the state, has earned at least a bachelors degree and demonstrates
competence in each core academic subject area in which the teacher teaches as required by NCLB legislation (2001) &
Title II-A.
Course Description: This is the second in the sequence of secondary mathematics courses designed to ensure that
students are college and work ready. This course requires students to: represent and operate with complex numbers;
use numerical, graphical, and algebraic techniques to explore quadratic, exponential, and piecewise functions and to
solve quadratic, exponential and absolute value equations and inequalities; use algebraic models to represent and
explore real phenomena; explore inverses of functions; use right triangle trigonometry to formulate and solve problems;
discover, justify and apply properties of circles and spheres; use sample data to make informal inferences about
population means and standard deviations; and fit curves to data and examine the issues related to curve fitting.
Standards Based Instruction: This course will include information in compliance with the Georgia Performance
Standards (GPS)/ Common Core Georgia Performance Standards. For complete coverage of this courses standards

*The average derived from these percentages in the teachers grade book will then be averaged with the students score on the End-Of-Course Test/
final, which will account for 20% of the students final average.

Infinite Campus: The fastest and most up-to-date way for parents to track a students progress is to utilize the Parent
Portal piece of the Infinite Campus student information system. To obtain access to Parent Portal parents may pick up a
Parent Portal Registration Form from the CCHS Guidance department or from the school of the youngest child registered
in Colquitt County. Parents who utilized Parent Portal during the 2014-2015 school year do not need to register again.
Supplies:
The following supplies are recommended for this class:
pencils and/or simple ball point pens (black ink)
pencil/pen pouch
notebook paper
1 subject notebook(Used for weekly journal)
3-ring notebook with dividers (1 notebook with dividers is sufficient for both classes)
calculator for homework(A TI-84 will be provided for in class use.)
If a student disregards reasonable care and use of school supplies provided by the school system, the parent of the student will be
notified and all school supplies for the remainder of the school year shall be the responsibility of the parent.

Teacher Expectations:
1.

Be prepared to work when the tardy bell rings with all needed materials.
a. 3 Tardies = Absence
b. 4 Tardies = Referral
2. Be respectful and courteous to everyone.
3. Complete all assignments and make-up any assignments missed when absent.
a. Academic detention will be given for missing work.
4. Keep an organized notebook. This includes all graphic organizers, worksheets, Do Nows, etc.
5. Bring your notebook, with paper and pencil, to class each day.
6. Follow all school rules as listed in the student handbook.
7. Ask for help when questions arise. After school tutoring is available most days of the week and before school, if necessary.
8. Students who have an unexcused absence or are suspended on the day of a graded assignment will receive a 0 for that
assignment(When an excuse is brought, then the assignment can be made up.)
If needed, parents are encouraged to schedule a conference through the CCHS Guidance Department by calling 229-890-6145. The
Guidance Department sponsors parent conferences on most Thursdays throughout the year. We believe families, students and
school staff must work together to help each student reach his/her potential. I am looking forward to a great year at CCHS.
