Team Mission/Project Vision (optional)
To build an application that bridges the gap in verbal communication.
Project Objectives
The purpose of this application is to ease communication between verbal and nonverbal
people. The system would present photographs of actual objects, symbols, or handgestures in which the user would select to form sentences based upon the needs of the
user.
The existing application is to be modified from the previous clients expectations such
that it provides communication by having the user tap on an image of their desired
expression. The user can choose from 3 categories, positive, neutral or negative, to
express what they are trying to communicate. The caretaker also has the option to change
the image associated with the phrase describing the image.
Project Scope
Specifications: Android only (Java).
Expected Audience: people who are nonverbal, or have difficulty communicating
verbally.
We will refine an Android application that allows people, who are nonverbal or have
difficulty communicating verbally, to select a series of pictures that will then be
converted into a sentence to be read aloud by the users device. The client has requested
the developers to make these changes in order to make this application approachable and
useable to our users.
