Pierrot Yarns Amijin Ramie Blend [80% organic cotton, 20% ramie; 79
yds/72m per 1.06 oz./30g skein];
color #1 off white; 3 skeins [80g] (3 skeins [90g])
color #7 grandrelle beige; 3 skeins [90g] (5 skeins [135g])
3.6mm (approx. US 4 or 5) knitting needles or size necessary to
achieve gauge
2.5mm (approx. US B) crochet hook or size necessary to achieve gauge
darning needle
15mm (approx. 5/8") button: 1 for 90cm size, 2 for 110cm size

Gauge
Gauge is measured in a swatch 10cm/4" square.
stockinette stitch: 22 sts and 31 rows
pattern stitch: 18 sts and 8 rows

Finished measurements
Numbers in parentheses in yarn requirements refer to 110cm size. Japanese childrens clothing sizes are
based on the childs height in centimeters. 90cm size (35.4") and 110cm size (43.3") correspond roughly
to US childrens sizes 3T and 4.
90cm size:

Knitting Tips
Lower part: Cast on and knit in stockinette stitch. Bind off in pattern with color #1 off white.
Upper part: Work single crochet (US) into bound-off stitches. Continue in pattern stitch. Where
indicated, begin working right and left sections separately.
Finishing: Join shoulders with woven seam. Seam sides of lower part (stockinette stitch area) with
mattress stitch. Seam sides of upper part with slip/chain seam (see next page). Work single crochet
edging at front placket, working buttonholes into right front only. Work edging A in the round at
armholes and hem. At transition from upper to lower part, work edging A in the round. Rejoin
yarn for row 2 of edging B at neckline. Attach buttons.

slip/chain seam: essentially a slip stitch seam with chain stitches interspersed between slip stitches. Sl
st through one stitch in each layer. *ch2, sl st in top of next row*, continue from * to * until end.
