Course Expectations
Attendance, classroom participation, completion of all assignments and performance on the
exams are all important contributors to the successful completion of this course. The students
grades for this course will be calculated by:
Six Weeks Grade
Tests (exams; your quizzes average together for one exam grade) 50 %
Warm-ups, Classwork, Homework 17%
Quizzes [Notebooks and Homework Completion are 2 quiz grades] 33%
** No grades are dropped, no curve is applied; there are opportunities for bonus points
Semester Average [70 or above to pass]
Each of three six weeks 25% [for a total of 75%];
Semester Final exam 25%
Turning in Work and Make-Up / Late Work
All work to be on time is due by the next class day unless otherwise stated. It must be turned in
at the beginning of the period or it is late [graded for half credit]. You are responsible for all
material presented. In the event of an excused absence, you will be allowed to make up any
assigned work for full credit with a few days extension. For an unexcused absence, you are still
responsible for the material, but the work is late and graded for half credit..
Homework, quizzes, and tests may be corrected for half the points back. A separate page with the
corrections and showing all work must be stapled to the original when turned in order to receive
credit.
Late work and make-up work must be completed and turned in within the same six weeks it was
assigned.
Supplies:
All students each day must bring a 3-ring binder with 4 dividers, pencil(s), and notebook
paper to class.
Textbook:
Algebra 2 McGraw Hill 2016
