To ossure most efficient operotion of MAGNA-LINE tools, such os
Jigsow, Jointer, Belt Sonder, Sproyer, ond Bond Sow, when mounted
on SHOPSMITH* Mork 5, the tool drive shoft should be in line with
the SHOPSMITH ouxiliory spindle within 1/16". This olignment is

o very simple motter, if

instructions provided with the tool ore

corefully followed. Occosionolly, due to knocks ond jors the
mochine receives during tronsit, it moy be necessory to proceed o
little further. lf shoft olignment is not ochieved by following the normol instructions, check the following porogrophs to be sure your
SHOPSMITH is in os perfect condition os it wos when it left the

TIE BAR
When the tie bor is clomped down, it should sit solidly on both
shoulders of the heodrest. lf the lock lever doesn't occomplish this,
turn the screw sketched ot left slightly clockwise. This will increose
the clomping pressure of the lever.
SQUARING HEADREST
The gop between tie bor ond heodrest costing should be equol ot
both ends, Check this with o scole ond, if odjustment is necessory,
slightly loosen the two bolts which lock the BENCH TUBES to the
underside of the heodrest. This will permit "turning" the heodrest
to equolize the gop. Be sure to re-tighten the two bolts securely.
ADJUSTMENT SCREW
On SHOPSMITH's with q seriol number obove 290367, on odlustment screw is provided in one shoulder of the heodrest. This screw
moy be utilized to provide o slight loterol movement of the tool
shoft. Be sure the screws in the tie bor which lock it to the tubulor
woys ore loosened before the screw is odjusted, then tightened ofter
the odjustment is mode.

lf your SHOPSMITH is below seriol number 290367 (mochines

which do not hove odjustment screw), you moy occomplish the some
thing by lightly filing one shoulder of the heodrest, os sketched ot
left. USE A SMOOTH FILE, TAKE A FEW STROKES, CHECK
ALIGNMENT AFTER EACH.
BEFORE FOLLOWING ANY OF THESE PROCEDURES, BE SURE
YOU HAVE CAREFULLY CHECKED THE MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SHEET PROVIDED WITH THE TOOL.
