GuidelinesA-E Reporting
Imagine time has sped up and geological processes and formations occur in a matter of hours rather than over millions
of years.
Your task is to write a newspaper article describing one such geological process
o Note: we are looking at formations of geologically significant areas, i.e. mountains, rift valleys, oceanic
ridges or trenches, not calamitous events like earthquakes, volcanoes or tsunamis.
You will need to include information on what plate movements contributed to the event and descriptions of what occurs
between the lithosphere and mantle both before and after the event occurs.
Include pictures or diagrams where relevant and you are free to use your imagination to add interesting detail such as
human impact or other consequences.
o Think laterally here. How would peoples living situation change if a mountain formed beneath them? How would
the way we gather food change (e.g. fishing if a trench formed)?
