Comprehensive Classroom Technology Plan

Todays teacher need to learn how to mange technology in a beneficial
way for both the teacher and student. We are living in the era of technology
we have to learn how to utilize wisely and embrace it. So it can assist us
when we need to communicate, use it for differentiating instruction,
assessments and other educational needs. We need to have an open
communicate plan that will benefit the student and parent. We can establish
this communication plan by email, phone, or even by using our website.
Every students learn at their own pace and have their own uniqueness and
teachers should have the right equipment to assist differentiated instruction.
Whether it is an educational video, web tool, software or any technology
devices we need to keep in mind those students that have special needs. Not
every student has the same facilitation to complete the daily task. With all
the technology devices that are there for teacher to use, it can help the
teachers to create their own assessments. It can be a formative or a
summative assessments, we sure can apply the correct web tool to assist the
teacher and student. The data that is collected after an assessment can be

beneficial for both the teacher and student. Lets embrace this generation we
are teaching.

Vision & Mission Statement

My mission is to teach first grade or second grade. To connect with
each student to prepare them for a better tomorrow. To help not only my
classroom students but every students that I can help. Make a difference in
their lives and help them succeed in every lesson that I plan to teach. My
vision is to use all my tools that I have learned in this class to teach my
students. Prepare outstanding power point presentations and add video and
audio to make them exciting for my students to learn. Share with my
colleagues a few of the tools that I learned in this class that will benefit them
as well. Keep adding a few new things to my web site so my students and
their parents can take advantage of this amazing tool. Have weekly meetings
with my colleagues to help one another, create new projects that will benefit
us the teachers and the students.
Section Two: Communications Plan
Technology facilitates the many actives we have in our daily lives
today, from communicating to completing school assignments. As a future
teacher it is very important to learn how to use technology to teach in class
as well to be able to communicate outside the classroom. The first resource

that I will be using to communicate with parents and students would have to
be the web page that the school district has design for all the school sites in
our district. The reason I have chosen this option is because this is the first
thing I check every morning when I get to class. Because every morning our
school principal sends us an email to update us with what is going on our
school site. So by now it is more than a habit that I have to check my emails.
My second resource that I will be using for communicating is my website that
I have design in this class. And that is through my Weebly website because I
have a page that it is specifically for students and parents. Not only that but I
also have a blog page that will be design for only parents. The page that I
have for parents and students I plan to make my own videos and post them
there for their advantage. Finally the third resource that I will have for
communicating with parents and students is (www.youtube.com ) because
not only my students can take advantage of this opportunity but people from
all over the world. How I plan to use this resource to communicate is by
posting my own educational videos that I plan to create to help every
student that might need that extra help in various subjects.

Section Three: Integrating Instructional Technology

There's no getting away from it; technology in schools is here to stay.
But technology must be integrated effectively if it is to make a difference in
the way teachers teach and students learn. Almost on a weekly basis,
technologies become available that can change and sometimes utterly

transform the way teachers teach and child learn. (Poole, B., 2012,
Education World p1) www.educationwork.com Technology can be incorporate
in our daily lessons to facilitate my teaching skills and help my students with
their daily lessons. I plan to incorporate a few tools that will help the
students comprehend what they might be lacking in class. One of the web
tools that I have used in the past and will continue to use is Strarfalls
because, children have fun while learning in an environment of
collaboration, wonderment, and play. They teach through positive
reinforcement to ensure children become confident, intrinsically motivated,
and successful.(www.starfall ) I plan to use this tool when I have my
students participate in the Language Arts and Math centers. Each student
will have the opportunity to log into this tool for fifteen minutes every center.
Smart boards are becoming increasingly popular. Students love to interact
with technology based educational tools. Smart boards takes the place of a
traditional chalk board or white board. It is essentially a white board with
technological capabilities that allows you and your students to interact in
ways they had previously not been able to. (Meador, Derrick
http://teaching.about.com/od/tech/a/Technology-In-The-Classroom.htm) I
plan to use this amazing tool when I have to introduce a new math lesson to
make it fun for students and this tool will make them want to participate.
Another way I plan to use it is when teaching my students how to write an
essay it will make it fun and exciting for them to learn.
Section Four: Differentiating Instruction through Technology

Not every student learns the same way and every student has its own
uniqueness. Differentiated instruction is the different ways that we can
teach students to comprehend what is not easy for some. In some cases it
can be students with learning disabilities and so teacher have to be create to
and bring out different ways to teach. Teachers can use web tools, software,
educational videos or just simply visional effects to help the student.
Differentiated instruction has proven to be a valuable teaching model for
teachers at urban schools. Differentiated instruction with technology is an
effective tool for urban school students because the Compass Learning
software has key assessments that are based on the ability of the
students.(Cobb, 2010, p.43) Technology is making a difference when helping
students that need to be taught in a differentiating instruction. By log into
various websites that read back to the students can help them with their
reading and phonics skills. It can also benefit the students with their math
skills. Teacher can also apply different ways to teaching without using
technology. For example if I want my students to write an essay about pets, I
would give each student a paper and let them write down words that are
relate to pets. This way it will make it easier for them to write their essay
without using technology in this lesson. Some of the pros when it comes to
using technology for differentiate instruction would be the many devices that
students can use and like web tools and software that can be apply to assist
them. Another pro using technology is students have the flexibility to use the
web sites from home and the parents can help them too. Some of the cons
could be not enough devices for every student in class, software that is not

update and when the school district does not give the teacher the training to
utilize the equipment.

Section Five: Technology to Support Assessment

The various web tools and software teacher use to assist them and the
students can be add to conduct an assessment. The technology
assessments are made in a neutral and objective, manner to assist in a
decision process.(Deal, W.F., 2002, p17) When conducting an assessment if
we apply technology to it, it will facilitate the decision we need to make after
reviewing the data. If I want to conduct a formative assessment I have two
ways that I can do it. I can just simple give a blank piece of paper to my
students and ask them to write two sentences on the new lesson that I will
briefly describe. This way I know whom might need extra help or I can give
them a quiz on web tool and collect my data at as well see, what changing I
will need to make. As for summative assessment I will create a test at the
end of my lesson and have my students log into the web tool that I will use.
After collecting my data I will be able to find out how many students actually
comprehend my lesson. I will be able to find out how I am doing as a teacher.
Teacher have the flexibility of making their own choice how they want to
conduct their assessments, by applying technology or no technology. The
good thing about using technology when you give an assessment is that the
computer will calculate your results. If no technology was apply to the
assessment you have to really analyze deeply your results to see were you

need to make changes. The pro about giving your students assessments is
that you can use the results as a guidance to see were the students are
lacking. . For an educational technology to be adopted effectively, the
pedagogical model it supports should also be adopted. (Lasry, N., Charles,
E. Whittaker, C., Dedic, H., &Rosenfields, S. 2013, p241) When teachers and
administration do not have the same vision it will not work.

Conclusion
The 21st century is here and we must learn to embrace technology
along with the new century. When applying technology in various way to
teach the students it will give a new meaning to the daily lesson that we
teach. Technology when applying wisely can help the students and teachers.
It can help those students in need of differentiating instruction, will open a
window of communication and it can assist with assessments. Not every
student learn at the same pace so by using different web tools it can help
them in the areas they might need help. In todays teaching world we can
use many different devices that can help us to be in contact with the
students and their parents. We need to have that open window of
communication with students parents because they need to be aware, how
their child is doing in class and in school. Technology tools and websites can
be helpful when we apply them to assessments because we can use the data

for guidance to have better outcomes in education. After all we are teaching
a new generation.
Reflection Essay
When I first read the syllabus for this class it really frightening me
because I do not know a lot about technology. As it is I am just getting used
to working with my lab top. You can imagine what was going through my
brain. Will I be able to manage this class or can I just simply avoid all my
negative thoughts and do my best. Then the first day of class after listening
to all the videos I was more frightening because I learn that Mr. Martin is a
happy retired English teacher. English is not my primary language but I pray
about this and I came to the conclusion that, God has lighting me in his word
to become this teacher that I have always dream of. So with that said by the
second day of class I was very determined to work hard in this class. This
class has open my eyes to see how the 21st century students are taught in
class. It is all about technology now a days. I personally have gain a lot of
new tools that will help me in my future teaching career. I do plan to put
them all to work for a better outcome. The number one tool that I truly love
is the creation of our own website it is amazing what this tool can do for me
the teacher and for my students and parents. Because I do plan to make
power point presentation and add audio and video to them for the benefit of
everyone in my classroom.
