Q17: Please provide comments in regards to the student teacher's strengths and areas for improvement.
The teacher started by asking questions to tap into their prior knowledge. Students were able to tell the teacher that
they have been working on topic and main idea.
Good use of questioning by the teacher.
The anchor chart was referred to. I always encourage my teachers to make sure they use anchor charts for more than a
decoration.
The use of the VA History text made this a nice cross curricular lesson.
The text features were identified. The class was very proficient at identifying them and they were commended for their
efforts.
The Promethean Board and document imaging camera were both used effectively.
Students were able to discuss features of the Piedmont with their shoulder partners.
The learning target was aligned with the instruction and worked well for the language arts and VA History portion of the
lessons.
Pick up the pace of the lesson just a bit. keep the students engaged. Have them do more of the talking and you talk a
little less.
How would students be assessed?
Allin all, this was a really good lesson. You are on the right track.
