Columbus Day: To keep or to not keep?

DEBATE
Your chance to take part in a discussion about a
Controversial Issue
In this debate, your responsibility is to support your side of the
topic and argue it with the other side. You will either be
supporting Columbus Day or be opposed to it. Your side will be
randomly drawn and be given to you in class. Your role for the
debate will also be assigned to you in class.
ROLES OF THE DEBATE
Opening Statement Presenter: Presentation must take their
main arguments and gather them into an introductory statement
without going into full details.
Topic Presenters: Presenters must address the main arguments
for their team. Provide specific details for each argument made.
Rebuttal Presenters: Rebuttals must argue against the other
team. It is advised for the Rebuttal Presenters to take notes
during the other teams presentation to make sure that every
argument is addressed.
Closing Statement Presenter: Presents the teams arguments
again without going into full details.
RULES OF THE DEBATE
- There will be NO cussing or hateful language in the
debate.
- Everyone will have their chance to speak, do not cut off
others sentences.
- Opening Statement for Both Sides: 2-3 Minutes
- Rebuttal Conference: One Minute
- Rebuttals: 2 Minutes each
- Closing Statement for Both Sides: Up to 4 Minutes
- Each team must have at least three arguments!

- For full credit you must present all of your arguments with
details and respond to the other teams arguments.
Remember, the purpose of this debate is to get everyone involved
and to have fun. The most important rule of all is to HAVE FUN!
