Want to Lose Belly Fat?

Skip the Crunches

Theres no arguing the fact that flat stomachs are attractive. Whether youre wearing
a bulky sweater or a bathing suit, a flat stomach improves your appearance. But
theres more to a flat stomach than the apparent physical benefits.
A flat stomach eliminates the danger of deep-hidden belly fat around your
organs which can increase your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and
some types of cancer.
A flat stomach means lower cholesterol, lower triglycerides, lower blood
pressure and optimal insulin levels.
30 minutes of physical activity, even if its just walking, can have a positive effect on
visceral fat, this hidden belly fat. And losing as little as 5 to 10 pounds or trimming 2
inches off your tummy can make a difference.
And while the ultimate goal is to have flat, trim abs, the first step for
men is to get their waist circumference under 40 inches, and
women to get their waist circumference under 38 inches.
The question is how? . . . and thats when a structured diet and exercise program can
be a tremendous help.
Its a common belief that if you want to lose belly fat you have to do hundreds of
crunches every day. This is just not the truth.
In fact, depending on your starting point, doing these crunches can actually make
your stomach look bigger. Thats because youre building your abdominal muscles
but not really losing much belly fat.
If you want to get a flat stomach, the muscles are already present. What you want to
do is reduce the surrounding fat, and the best way to do that is Interval Training.
Interval training is the single best way to lose belly fat. And intervals can be added to
just about any fitness program.
Just about anything can be integrated with interval training. An interval is a short
period of time where you increase the intensity of your workout. Were talking about
just a minute or two of increased intensity and then you return to your normal
intensity. Repeat this several times during your workout and youll burn that
abdominal fat faster and get flat abs quickly.
Whole body workouts. The truth of the matter is that the best way to burn fat and to

treat your body well is to perform exercises that dont isolate one muscle but rather
larger muscle and joint groups. This is both better for your body and it burns fat
faster.
If you want to see quick results, skip the crunches and attempts to spot reduce. They
dont work. Instead, focus on interval training, whole body workouts and modifying
your diet to boost your metabolism.
