Belonging
Belonging to groups is an important part of LIFE! Quality of life is partly dependant on the
effectiveness of the groups that you belong to. Effectiveness depends on personal group skills
and knowledge of what an effective group looks like.
People are born into a group (your family) and your survival is dependent upon the support of
that group. Personal identity is derived from the way in which people are perceived and treated
by other members of the many groups to which they belong. People are educated in groups, work
in groups, play in groups and do activities in groups. All stages of life are characterized by the
need to belong.
