Math, Science, and Social Studies Practicum at Sherman Middle School
September 2015-November 2015
Grade 8
Planned and implemented lessons in the areas of math, science, and social
studies in an inclusive 8th grade classroom including students with a wide range
of disabilities and English Language Learners.
Collaboratively planned and co-taught academics as part of a three person
teaching team including a general educator, special educator, and ELL educator
to ensure that all students needs were being met.
Differentiated instruction by providing a variety of assessment choices,
instruction methods, language translations, accommodations, and modifications
to guarantee that all students could access the general education curriculum.
Taught community building course to help create a positive community, make
relationships, and teach problem solving skills.

including nine students with disabilities in the following criteria areas: learning,
emotional/ behavioral, intellectual, autism, other health impairment, and speech
and language
Provided math intervention for two kindergarten students with developmental
delays
Taught literacy lessons and assisted a student with autism with social interactions
in a 4K classroom for one hour per week.
Taught small group math lessons to students with disabilities that aligned with
Common Core State Standards, Number Worlds math curriculum, and IEP
accommodations/ modifications.
Led small group reading lessons using a systematic intervention curriculum
(Voyager) to provide students with explicit feedback and direct instruction in
areas the students struggled.
Completed a Functional Behavioral Analysis for a student who displayed
aggressive behaviors to collaboratively create an intervention with the student
that would be successful.
Formally assessed a struggling reader in all five areas of reading and used
assessment data to plan instruction.
Executed explicit and systematic, individualized instruction for students at risk
and below grade level using MONDO, Voyager, and Number Worlds curriculum.
