Internship Week: Second

Title of journal: Classroom Management

1. Problem/Event
My second week in this school requires me to manage the classroom. I have issues
when dealing with students in classroom in terms of their seating in class, time
management, voice output and whiteboard management.
2. Analysis
The main objective for this week is to get to know the class system. As a trainee
teacher I need to be able to manage my students well and organize them so that the
class will be a conducive place to learn. According to Evertson, classroom
management emphasize on prevention through planning and addresses decisions
teachers must make in the typical classroom, e.g., arranging physical space,
choosing rules and procedures, planning and conducting instruction, maintaining
appropriate behavior, using good communication skills, dealing with problem
behavior, and managing special groups. So, as a teacher, I must be able to handle
my students well so that teaching and learning process flows smoothly without
interruption.

3. Actions taken
a) As a trainee teacher, I must be able to adapt with the classroom, get along with
the students and manage their environment to make it more suitable for them to
learn.
b) I must be able to identify students strengths and weaknesses in terms of their
disciplinary issues.

4. Time Allocation for Action


I will try my best to manage the classroom well so that no disruptive and destructive
behaviours happen in my classroom. Other than that, I need to make sure that they
are able to focus in my class by implementing firm set of rules for them to obey.
