Ceramix Olympix 2015

Assignment: Every student must create at least one piece to compete


in the Ceramix Olympix 2015. Choose at least one category and do
your best to create the winning piece. Students will compete as both
individuals and as teams.
Requirements: To be eligible for competition, pieces must meet the
following deadlines:
Bisque firing: Last day for bisque firing will be November 24th. Any
pieces not ready for firing at this time will be disqualified.
Glaze firing: The last day for glaze firing will be December 9th. Any
pieces not ready at this time will be disqualified.
Each piece may only be entered in one category.
Volume will be measured by filling pieces with water so pieces need to
me watertight.

Tallest thrown vase
Tallest hand built vase
Widest thrown plate
Biggest thrown bowl (Volume)
Biggest hand built bowl (Volume)
Highest volume to weight ratio
Best realistic sculpture
Best stylized representational sculpture
Best abstract sculpture
Largest sculpture (Displacement. Must survive firing.)
Best regular glazing
Best underglazing
Best raku
Discus throw
Prizes:
First place in each category will receive 20 points extra credit (5
homework assignments worth) second semester. This will stack,
meaning if you place first more than once, you get 20 points for each
category.
The winning team will be excused from the final examination for the
first semester.
