Part A:
Step 1- Attach the spring scale to the object.
Step 2- Using your ruler to measure, lift the object up slowly 20 cm off the table
Step 3- Read the force on the spring scale and record in your data table (Newtons)
Step 4- Repeat two more times and average your trials (Add and then multiply by 3)
Part B:
Step 1- Place the string over the fixed pulley
Step 2- Attach the spring scale to one end of the string
Step 3- Attach the hook of the object to the other end of the string
Step 4- With the object on the desk, carefully pull the spring scale STRAIGHT down- not
to the side and lift the
object 20 cm off the table
Step 5- Read the force needed to lift the object and record in your data table
Step 6- Repeat two more times and average your trials (Add and then multiply by 3)
