The mission of the Bioscience & Technology
Business Center (BTBC) is to diversify and
grow the local economy through the com-
mercialization of innovative technologies and
development of a biosciences industry in
Lawrence and Douglas County. The BTBC is a
multi-tenant facility that will be home to start-
up technology companies spinning out from
the University of Kansas, emerging technology
businesses, and collaborations between large
technology firms and KU researchers. In addi-
tion to providing laboratory and office space,
the BTBC will provide tenants with business
development services and access to capital.
The BTBC is owned by the Lawrence-Douglas
County Biosciences Authority (LDCBA) and
will be managed by the Lawrence Regional
Technology Center. Funding for construction
of the BTBC is provided through a partnership
among the LDCBA, the City of Lawrence,
Douglas County, the Kansas Bioscience
Authority, KU, and KU Endowment.
