FAN POWER

Source of formula: http://hvacformula.blogspot.com/2008/12/fan-equations.html

BHP = Q x Total Friction Loss / (6356 x Fan Ef f.)

Where:
BHP = Break Horsepower
Total Friction loss = in H2O
Q = Air flow rate in CFM

FAN EFF = Fan efficiency usually in 6585% range

= use 75%

291

Example:

BHP = Q x Total Friction Loss / (6356 x Fan Ef f.)

For AHU 1

Q = 90000 CFM

Total Friction Loss = 3.3986 in H20

Fan Eff. = 75%

BHP = 90, 000 x 3.3986/ (6356x 0.75)

= 64.16536675
