Cocoa Processing Project
Background to the Project
Global Sweeties Inc. has a significant multi-national confectionery business. They wish to build a plant to
process cocoa beans in order to generate the materials they require for their UK business. To this end,
they have purchased a brownfield site some 10 miles East of Liverpool. The site has access to mains
water, gas, electricity and sewerage.

The Proposal (Design Brief)

Design and cost a new plant to produce:


o 15ktpa cocoa liquor
o

5ktpa natural butter

6ktpa deodorised butter

2ktpa high fat cocoa powder

o 3ktpa low fat cocoa powder


Including:
o Any associated services.
o Effluent treatment facilities for the new process.
