Absorption :
Anhydrous ampicillin (no longer commercialle available the us) and ampicillin
trihidrate generally are stable in the presence of acidic gastric secretion and 3055% of an oral dosage of the drugs is absorbed from the GI track infasting adult

Distribution
In one study in neonates with meningithis, average ampicillin concentration in CSF
ranged from 1-28mcg/ml (11-65% of simultaneous serum concentration) during the
7 hour periode following IV administration of 40-70 mg/kg. highest CSF
concentration occurred at 3-7 hour.
Ampicillin is distributed into bile. Biliary concentration of ampicillin in patient with
normall biliary function maybe 1-30 times. Greater than simultaneous serum
concentration following a single oral doses of ampicillin
